Took this for B&B. A brutal battle between the Dubl Duck, Wapienica and Slantbar. My face never felt the war thankfully.
I wanted to see how they compared to each other, I haved a bit with each of the three. I actually like the Wapienica better than the Dubl Duck so far (I saw so far because my honing and stropping skill has room for improvement).
I wish I remember where I found that purple soap, it makes an excellent shaving soap.
No preshave creme or aftershave today.

Its been rough lately with now bathroom and the whole family jammed into one so I have kind of been shaving with the same stuff and razor. I was over it today so I dug up some goodies and completed my 2nd Straight Shave. Much Closer then the First and close to BBS for all of you that recommend I go slow and due only parts of the face and then add a little at a time Me and my face Thank you it has worked out very well in developing my technique.

Warm shower, experimented with hair conditioner after washing face.
W.H. Sample 5/8
Barbasol
WTG and ATG passes.
This was a very encouraging shave! Even this early in my straight-shaving career, I'm getting way better results than with the electric. Very smooth on the cheeks and mustache area. A little rough on the chinline and under the chin, but I'm still focusing on reduction there. (Still fighting that initial irritation.) I nicked myself a bunch on the chinline , but happily none of them persisted after the final rinse.
I think for the time being, shaving the night before will be the best strategy...

Didn't feel fair switching to another razor when the P69 didn't really get a full workout yesterday. It performed beautifully on its first full outing.Last edited by mparker762; 04-11-2007 at 01:12 PM. Reason: s/it's/its/

John Heifor "for the army" 6/8 wedge
B&B Finest
Trumper Rose
Body Shop Tea Tree toner
Will G's Sandalwood ASB
This is my first shave with this razor - another $5 e-bay special that I had reground and cleaned by Joe C. This is a medium weight wedge with horn scales that cleaned up pretty well. While not quite as good a shave as with my W&B or Rogers wedges, I can't complain for the price (about $50 including the razor, regrinding, honing, refurbishing and shipping). I'm really enjoying the wedge razors I have - I like them more than the 1/2 and 1/4 hollows for some reason.
The Will G's Sandalwood ASB is one of my favourite ASB's and I use it very sparingly - no burn, good skin conditioning and a great scent - I have about 1/2 a bottle left and am already looking for a replacement sandalwood ASB.

To be honest, I only have one 1/4 wedge (the Otto Hess razor that Randy sold) and I like it very much, but to answer your question, I prefer my full wedge razors to my 1/4 hollow and the several 1/2 hollows I own.
I think a full wedge shaves a little differently than even a 1/4 wedge, but that's obviously subjective.
The one thing with the full wedges - especially the heavier ones - is that they are very stiff and I find that I get the best results with a light touch - otherwise wedge burn can become a problem.
This being said, I have lots of full hollows that I really like as well 7/8 Fridour, 7/8 Wacker/Bartman (I actually like mine!), 6/8 TI Sheffield Steel - however, with the exception of the TI, I tend to prefer full hollows that are on the stiff side. I have some flexier blades as well, but seem to gravitate to full hollows over 6/8 and heavier grinds.

Thanked: 9Also experienced some difference myself - more "suction" on the face, and this seemed to cause a bit of irritation in a couple of spots, if touch isn't very light, as you say.
I seem to get all the stiffness I may ever need in 1/2 and 1/4 grinds and framebacks and even full hollows work well (but this is personal, of course)
Cheers
Ivo

Thanked: 1Nicked myself near the sideburn. Minor, stopped bleeding during the shave but annoying nonetheless.
Filarmonica doble temple 7/8
Proraso preshave cream
Williams soap
Proraso Balm
Oh and I turned the ceiling fan on, I love the feel of the air on my face after I finish, makes me realize I need to shave earlier so I can spend a few minutes outside after a shave.
