Decently comfortable shave, but not close.

The Sample is getting a little better. Definitely sharper this time around, but it caught a bunch on the ATG pass, and gave me a nick on my chin. Needs more tuning.

And as much as I love the Barbus soap, it tends to make my brush "waterproof" -- the glycerol?

    - Scott
Yes, Glycerol is a lipid which in turn is a fatty acid. All lipids are oils, fats and waxes. They are insoluble in water and therefor create this water-proofing you speak of.

Shaving 3 days in a row again - if I were single and in Miami I think Terry would have started shaving her pits and legs

testing 2 razors - a vintage JL frameback w/ detachable blades (great for travel!) and the Rauh I sold to Drew

    Custom Matt ivory super silvertip
    Speick sc
    Vintage Clydesdale strop
    JL Frameback 1/2 pass
Pretty boy - Rauh MOP inlay 1/2 pass
    Trumper's alum
VS Very Sexy For Him 2 a/r shave hydrator

Very nice shave in just one pass. Speick was used simply for variety but I liked it more than I diid the last time

    Razors:
    1) JL didn't seem too sharp, which was a bit surprising coming home from Joe Lerch (i had given it to him to use for a while). Nevertheless - it shaved quite well, about 9+ or 9++ / 10 performer. Its smile and stiffness were enjoyable and easy to use on my face

    2) Rauh: I thought it was a 10 / 10 performer and it proved to be an outstanding shaver! (better than the JL)

VS Very Sexy etc. - my wife likes the scent but its performance seems way below CSF or even Musgo Real ASB. I don't think I'll be using it a/r shaving again (but I slap it on when we go out with my wife sometimes so it will be used)

    Cheers
    Ivo

    Hot rinse and Cien conditioner
    Hot rinse and Proraso pre-post

    Edwin Jagger BB brush
    Trumpers sandalwood cream

    Kaessar 5/8" spike point
1 with, 1 across, 1 against the grain

Hot and cold rinse with alum rubdown and rinse
Proraso pre-post with wet fingers and left to dry
    Proraso a/s balm

    10/10!

No cuts or irritation and I just love the mentholly/refreshing combo of Proraso / Paco Rabanne. This setup looks set to be a contender for my first straight rotation.
