Thanked: 9Tosuke looks great, Neale.
I am really thinking about this
By the way, my experience with Trumper's violet - a bit hard to work with (unlike say Tabac) but does not irritate my face at all=good enough. Not go-to soap for sure, I must say. Maybe I got a really old one? (if this affects the ease of lathering)
Cheers

Due to time constraints in the summer, I started shaving every other day.. However, after yesterday's unsatisfying DE shave, I had to go at it today..
1) Hot shower
2) TGQ Desert Ironwood applied with a C&E BB brush
3) 2 passes with F.A. Clauberg's Tonsorial Gem left my face stubble-free
4) Followed up with Colleen's Bay Rum aftershave. Got it as a sample and really neglected it as it's a great product
Now I'm satisfied

Thanks Ivo,
You may have to pick one up, I get a really nice shave from mine. Spe can get them at a reasonable price too.
Thanks for the info on the Trumper's, I reallly like the Violet too so I may need to pick some up, even with the difficulties in lathering maybe it would work better mixed with the cream.

Thanked: 346I appreciate the suggestion, but soap by itself works great for me, no need to adulterate it with cream. I was thinking about this last night, and the problem may be all that glycerine in the creams; I can't stand the way glycerine soaps shave either so there's some little bit of correlation here. If only creams didn't smell so intensely good... OTOH my Trumpers almond is pretty strongly scented, so maybe their violet and rose soaps will have enough punch to satisfy my nose.

Thanked: 9That's probably it, Michael - it looks as if I haven't touched it (literally) so I guess it acquired tough skin and I still have not worked through it.
I may try removing the top layer.
For the record, the scent is nowhere close in strength the my Trumper's Rose cream. Again - this may be because I got an old soap? But since you will be picking up one in person you will be able to see for yourself. Share the beta when you get the soaps, please
Cheers
