Newly restored razor from an eBay lot. Disassembled, cleaned, repinned with stainless washer and brass rod, honed a few days ago and tested today. Great shave.

    Cool SOTD Dec 6

After taking a detour with a DE this past Friday. I picked up the DOVO 6/8 Best Quality that I had honed a week earlier, here is the result:

Preparation: Hot shower + proraso post shave cream
    Brush: Vulfix 22mm best badger
Soap/cream: Speick. I love the creaminess...just added five drops of glycerin to avoid fast drying...and it sure helps!
Razor: Stropped this bad boy 30/30 webbed fabric and red latigo. As I said, I honed it last week on a 10K Naniwa, just to polish the edge. As I was stropping it, I could see the glean of the edge when flipping the blade on its spine. I took off a two day worth of stubble like a hot knife through butter.
    Astringent: Thayers lemon
    AS: Old Spice
Results>> BBS just a couple of nicks around the mustache area...just rushing the process. Should know better.

Background Music>>Georg Teleman. Recorder Suite in A Minor
Adult drink>> Just a couple of Strohs

So I decided to try my hand at touching up a razor with a barber's hone I got in a trade. Bad news: I only have one straight right now and I got it freshly honed by Max so I was super worried about ruining the edge. Good news: I didn't ruin the edge. If anything it is feeling smoother again.

Prep: Fire Shower and conditioner on the beard
Soap: Fitjar Fjellheim lathered in the lovely Edwin Jagger Bowl
    Brush: Vulfix Super
    Razor: Redpoint 5/8
Post: Cold water just like our forefathers
Soundtrack: One and End of the Line, both by Metallica

Result: Great smooth close shave. Not perfect because I'm still working on the best techniques for parts of my face, but still a wonderful shave and I actually went through the trouble to get a picture with my computer.
