Joed - Can I ask how you like the Royall as an AS? I have some Brooks Brothers gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, and their Bay Rhum [sic] is on my short list...

    Cool Dec 15 Shave

At last everything is almost back to normal...I chose to shave with the Boker razor again tonight since I am having problems handling the 5/8 blade.

Hot shower + Proraso took care of the prep stage. The soap that I
used tonight was the Proraso green tube always in my rotation, I am getting to the conclusion that I favor boar brushes better than badger hair, so I used the only one I have: the Omega professional model, a big brush. The Thayers astringent is always preceded by a cold water wash, followed by Italian Floid aftershave. Since I am stepping out with the wife tonight I am using Guerlain Imperial as my cologne of choice. Shave on.

Background music: Pink Floyd- Us and Them.
    Adult drink-some red wine.

Kettle water(just before boiling) in my scuttle and I let it sit for 15 mins, otherwise the scuttle is too hot for keeping a lather. I normally heat scuttle with hot tap water fill just before my shower than dump water and refill with hot tap water again after my shower; but, tonight was a pamper shave night. Two hot towels: one before shave and one after first pass. Rolling the towels before running hot tap water reduces the hot water exposure to thy digits when wringing out the water from the towel. A great shave tonight.
BDom, have you tried to microwave the towels rolled up? I slightly moisten them and nuke them about a minute to a minute and a half, and I do not have to wring out any water....they are, well like Florida weather hot and humid. shave on.

I like the Royall colognes a lot. I picked up a lot of 3 of them on Ebay. I have the Lyme, Musk, Spice and Bay Rhum and ejoy each of them. But I am not too fussy about the colognes and after shaves and have a bunch I rotate through.

Default Tuesday + new La Toja Sensitive

Soundtrack - my wife practicing Brahms 2
    Prep - hot water
    Strop - VB "2 web/latigo 100/100
    Brush - WS Boar
    Cream - La Toja Sensitive
Razor - Wostenholm Pipe 5/8 round
    AS - Skin Bracer
    ASB - Nivea Extreme

So...my La Toja tube came in today and as someone mentioned in another post (in what I hoped was the voice of James Brown), "Look out!". The scent is something else - super earthy and arromatic in a way I can't get my head around. I think that if there was a contest to name the scent of the LT, I would make my entry "Dawn on the Sarengeti". The lather is good, a little more foamy than creamy and the scent is definately staying for seconds. I'm not sure that this will be a fist call cream for me - I think I like the bracing quality of the menthol/eucalyptus...more of the soapy/fresh feel, but none the less I am pleased to have it as part of the arsenal (such as it is). I'll add to this if I think of anything else...

    Have a great night!
