    Late Sunday 1/31/10

    Solingen Perlex First Class
    Semogue 2009 LE #19
    Coates Sandalwood sc
    Thayers Original WH w/aloe
    Anherb a/s gel
    Alt Innsbruck

Was planning on just a head shave but decided on a regular shave with the recent acquisition, the Solingen Perlex. Decided to try the Coates with the boar (I tend to use soaps with the boar) and lathered up and then stropped the razor. (I just read about this technique earlier tonight...I used this method as I did not shower first.) The razor felt great. I think I'm getting better at my straight technique. Two good passes and a little touch up with the Gem Featherweight left me with a BBS shave that will certainly carry me through tomorrow. That Coates is good stuff to be sure.

    Beard Prep: Hot Wash/Lather/Strop/HWR/Lather/Shave
Razor: Crown and Sword Extra Hollow
    Strop: Dovo 40 Linen/40 Leather

    Brush: Vintage Barbershop Boar
Soap: Burt Bee's Bay Rum + A little Glycerine
ASB: G,F,Trumpers Skin Food in Lime

    Astringent: Thayers Green
    AS : Bay Rum

    Result: BBS!

Conclusion: I only needed a quick shave after the Bengall yesterday, 2nd try with the Burt bee's and you so have to work this soap, but if you are patient, open minded, and willing to stick at it, it rewards will a great glide and a wonderful warm Bay Rum scent!

    SHAVE ON!!

    Late yesterday evening:

    Expert Barber 400
    loom strop
    Pre de Provence soap
    ShaveMac Best Badger
    Alum block
    Brut a/s

3 passes, bbs. This was my first try of the PDP soap, I obtained it from The Shave Den's "grab bag". It lathered quite well, and although upon first blush the pre-lather aroma was a bit flowery for me, after lathering it smelled great. This one could make it into my regular rotation.

Still slacking too much to send a blade off to Ralfy.

    Gillette Aristocrat
    Wilkinson Swords
    VDH Soap
    Dickenson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea PSB

    Hot shower
    WTG
    XTG
    ATG

Pretty smooth, though I think I am almost done "experimenting" with going ATG. Sort of tears me up about 20 minutes after the shave it seems. I will give it a shot when I get a straight that has been hones properly, but as far a DE's go I think I am over it.
