Result: Very nice and close shave today.
Nice blade I bought on the Bay with nice/cool scales + it came shave ready enough - even though I don´t know how good an edge these normaly takes though. Nannys soap´s so nice, slick and good lather with a very nice scent indeed - it almost have a fresh citrus candy like scent and feel. Not as slick as Cella though, but no soap is
    PS Nice scuttle LinacMan!
    Love the scales, Gorgeous!!

    That scuttle is strikingly beautiful!

I've never used a scuttle, but it might be something to consider if the coming winter is anything like the last!

    Default A Success Story

Been a while since I've posted here, but I have a short story to share.

    Thursday's Shave
    Soap: Conk Almond
    Brush: Rooney
    Razor: DOVO Best Quality 5/8
    AS: Aqua Velva
    ASB: Nivea

I bought this razor from Vintage Blades a couple years ago. (back when you had to pay extra for honing, so I did) This was my first razor, and always one of my favorites. When nothing else seemed to work, it did. Anyways, long story short, the faucet found the blade a couple times, and I decided to make this my "practice my honing skills" razor. I've been working on this thing on and off for at least a month, with lots of trial, error, and ouch. Last night I finally got it right. Got it out this morning to test it and see where I was, and wound up doing the entire shave with it. I'm not 100% sure what I did, but now she's back to her original sharpness and smoothness. Thank you all for all the helpful information on this site! I would have never been able to get this thing to shave again without reading the honing info here. This place rocks!

    Hello Bandman,

Good to see another Alabama straight shaver from the lower half of the state on SRP.

Aura Glow as a Pre Shave Oil
    Gentleman's Best Signature Series SS
    Kent B&B LE 2009 Badger
W.H. Morley & Sons Clover Brand blade
Tony Miller Artisan Strop 30 Linen/60 Latigo
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Lucky Tiger Aspen AS
    Nivea AS Balm

I'm pretty impressed with the little Kent brush... a wee bit of a thing with a short loft, but doing a great job with both soaps and creams.
The Morley blade is one of the best in the stable.
Today was a first try for an after shave balm, so the jury is still out... I'll judge after a week or so, but it feels great on the skin!

Your face will learn to love the Nivea Shave Balm B & T. Great for conditioning the skin and as a protective base from those drying ASL's. Awesome pic BTW!
