This one of the five razors I found at an antique store this weekend. I've never heard of the brand, and her former owner(s) have done some serious over-honing of the toe. Otherwise she is in pretty good shape.

Despite her shortcomings, I'll always remember her as the first razor I shaved with that I honed myself. I had to reset the bevel as there were minor irregularities in the edge.

I'll have to admit, putting her to my face was reminiscent of my first straight shave - that fear of the unknown. However, the shave went better than I expected. I can definitely tell Lynn didn't hone her. However, she delivered just below a DFS (4 hours later I can feel some stubble, but not see it) and no nicks. Some of this I can't blame on the honing job or the razor as I overslept and shaved rather quickly.

What a satisfying feeling knowing that I pulled it off all by myself! That is, if you ignore all the help received from Lynn and all my friends at SRP

Congrats!!! Must feel good to reach that milestone. I am working my way there.

    Default Monday Shave!

Shavemac 21mm | Cella | Gillette SS -- Shark Super Chrome | Razorock Alum | Art of Shaving Sandalwood Balm

This was my first time using the Cella soap/cream. I had some anxiety about how to lather with this stuff, but after some experimenting, I lathered it just like any other soap and my results were very good. I really like the Cella and to me, it develops into a much creamier lather than other soaps. I'm looking forward to using it with a straight tomorrow.

I had to use the DE more out of necessity than choice this morning, but I'm glad I did. A very smooth, comfortable, quick shave.

Thanks, Rene. I wasn't sure what I would think of the buckeye burl until it arrived. More importantly, it shaves like a dream!

Thanks, Robert. Let's just say that I'm still BBS smooth 15 hours after my shave this morning... I think that's a razor worth keeping!

    SOTD 9-20-10
    Prep: Hot Shower
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
    Scuttle: SRD
    Brush: TGN Custom Silvertip
    Strop: Rup Razor
    Razor: Livi 6/8
    After Shave: C.O.Bigelow Mentha
Result: Oh so relaxing and BBS.

Today's shave was the first shave after returning from being out of town with work. It was nice to use another razor from the stable (I only travel with 1). The Livi did not disappoint and laid waste to the whiskers before it.

The shaves are looking great this week gentlemen, keep them coming!

Prep - hot water and soap
    Razor - W&B wedge?
Soap - Col Conk Bay Rum
    AS - Homemade Bay Rum

I think I like the big blades, will take getting used to not hearing it shave.
