Post Week of September 19 SOTD - Tuesday

Today is a special birthday shave.

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Pre-Shave prep: Stephan's Conditioning Smooth Shave Creme
Razor: 6/8" Wade & Butcher Original "Bow" razor, near-wedge, Spike Point (Max restore)
Strop: SRD Premium IV (50 linen/75 leather)
    Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap
Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel (Lavender, no alcohol)
    ASB: Truffit & Hill Grafton
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
Result: Great lather, BBS shave...wonderful start to the start of my birthday. The "Bow" delivers the goods...Seriously!! This thing is as sharp and smooth as they come. What did you expect? The blade has been christened by none other than Max himself. I would even go so far as to officially certify this as a lethal weapon - If I were caught with this thing in my luggage at any airport security, I would be labeled a terrorist and deported. I also received my MWF soap yesterday...I do love this soap. It lathered up perfectly and effortlessly. I like its scent better than that of the Cella, but performance wise, they are very close, except with respect to one characteristic - the moisturizing capacity of the MWF outshines the Cella in this regard. But since one data point is not sufficient to make a final judgment call, the experimenting will continue.

    brush: Muehle Silvertip
    razor: Filarmonica
    ASB: Florena

    It works!
Special thanks to a friend in Spain who sent this beautiful razor to Germany.
That Filarmonica is a beauty Tom . They tend to take on a very nice smooth edge

btw: is that a round point?

Pre: Hot Shower with Conditioner in beard
    Razor: Dubl Duck Special #1
    Strop: Kanayama (35/70)
    SC: Al's Bomb (Potomac)
    Brush: Shavemac 23mm Silvertip
    Post: Alum + Thayer's lavender
    ASB: Al's Bomb (Potomac)
    EdT: Penhaligon's Endymion

The Bomb cream is aptly named. This beta-test on the scent is divine. It's got a great floral opening with a citrus middle note from the petit grain before drying down to a cedar and herb finish. The lather was silky smooth and provided tremendous cushion. The blade was, as always, smooth and sharp. I was left with a very comfortable BBS face. What a perfect way to start the day!

    yes, it is.
But I'll send it to Buddel to rescale it.

Thanks buddy...but I think we are going to postpone celebration until after my first grant deadline end of month. But I think knowing my wife, she will have something cooked up and we will crack open a bottle of wine tonight

Happy birthday Bro! May you have many more!

Re: Cella vs MWF - I think Cella is slicker, I really like MWF and even bought that nice cup ... But it seems I get pimples of it . I didnīt use it for weeks (thought that maybe the hot summer weather was part off it) and tried a couple of days ago, again... in the evening I had a nice and ripe pimple right on the chin. And no, I donīt get pimples by it self anymore.
