    Prep: Hot towell
Strop: SRD Premium IV, English Bridle 25 webbing/ 50 leather
    Scuttle: SRD
    Cream: Alraz's Da' Bomb "Goodfellas"
Brush: TGN Premium Silvertip in handle I turned in Cherry
Razor: Kobar "Souvenir of Berlin" 5/8 in custom Birdseye maple scales
    After Shave: Masters Bayrum
Result: This is the first of the 5 razors in a set I restored recently (there is still many stains, but I wanted to keep the etching on the blade. I put them in these scales for now, but I am contemplating some ivory scales and doing an inlay transfer from the original scales). I sent them out to Sham (Hi_bud_GL) to be honed. Let me tell you, that man puts an AMAZING edge on a razor. 2 passes and BBS smooth with no ATG. Also, today was my first foray with Da' Bomb. This stuff is also AMAZING. We have such talent here at SRP. I had to work yesterday, so I surprised the wife with breakfast in bed this morning. Eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, Momosa. The house smells like a restaurant.

The SOTD's are already looking amazing this week guys, keep them coming & have a great week!

Forget the shave Glenn...That background stuff looks good enough to eat...Yummmmm . I am getting hungry again.

Seriously though, Al's cremes are out of this world . One of the best lathers on either side of the Mississippi.

    Sunday 10/10/10

    A. Feist & Co. Luna Deluxe 5/8
    Semogue 830
    MWF ss
    Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
    Woods of Windsor a/s
    K D Creations a/s milk
    Woods of Wndsor Edt

It was fun to get back to using a straight...a very good shave with the Lunawerk and the wool fat lather. I used a little more left hand to go ATG but still can feel stubble on my neck when I go against the grain. Slowly but surely...

Did a test shave today of a few razors I've received recently. Not the best shave I've had but it was acceptable. Today's shave showed me two things. 1, I still need to work on developing my honing skills more and 2, I'm getting there!

    Great pics gentlemen!

    Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Überlather: CarrieM "Dragon's Blood" Shave Creme + Proraso Shave Soap+ Glycerin
Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Lavender, no alcohol)

Result: I am deeply honored by Max' gesture to start his SOTD for this week with a Tabac theme (and promise that I will get some real soon...I did love the smell - very, very clean). So, in order to reciprocate and honor Max' generous gesture, today's shave is with a very special razor; the W&B Frameback (a masterpiece I got from Max)...My wife and I had the distinct pleasure of visiting Max and family when in Vegas and while there, he managed to show me his incredible collection of blades and this beautiful frameback...as soon as I saw it, I had to have it. And my gut/conscience was right...this was one of my BEST razor purchases to date. It's definitely a keeper for a very, very long time...I am not much for horn scales, but the ones on this beauty converge seamlessly with the bloody red jasper wedge to uniformly blend together form and function and expose the mystical allure hidden in the blade. This gorgeous work of art combined with CarrieM's creme and some Proraso/Glycerin mix was a perfect recipe for a heavenly shave. I am very hard pressed to come up with a more fitting descriptive than "Nirvana" to portray this experience.

I have permission from Max to post a photo of us together during our visit (although he made me promise that it would not be a large image and only a thumbnail ...so, I Photoshop-framed it around the theme for today). The good looking one in this picture is Max. Also, although it may not show very clearly in the picture, the white mat underneath the gear is a place mat that Max and his wife graciously gifted us. My wife and I use them and love them...My wife and I extend our deepest appreciation for you and your wife's hospitality and generosity and for opening your home to us. Please say hello to Vivi as well (my wife and I both seemed to have fallen in love the moment we laid eyes on her )

**Warning: If anyone wishes to visit Max, be warned...you will end up wanting to buy everything he's got or will have in the future. Leave your credit cards at home. it can be hazardous to your wallets

Have a Wonderful Sunday gentlemen (and ladies) .

Took a ride up to Gentleman's Best yesterday with the wife, she likes looking at the fall foliage. Was surprised to find an Apple Harvest Festival. Although it made it a little difficult to park, we had a great drive and great morning/afternoon. we had breakfast at a small place down the street from the Gentleman's Best store and walked the festival. Had fresh Apple Cider and freshly made apple fritters.
As usual, Ray was a great host in the store. I never was able to get a good lather from soap so we talked about it for a while. I took home some Signature soap, a double sided leather strop I liked and some other goodies.

Shave today was great after a two day growth.

    Hot shower with facial scrub.
    Warm oil
    Gentleman's Best Soap
    Badger brush
    Hannah made ceramic bowl
W&B Razor stropped on the SRD P1 and felt
    AOS Aluminum
    Gentleman's Best After Shave splash

I was finally able to get a great lather with the soap. I like the texture and will certainly add soaps to my daily routine.

Southington CT is a wonderful small little town that has been around since the Revolutionary War. Very hospitable folks.

Here is a pick of the Church Steeple in the center of town and my SOTD.

Believe it or not Rene...Max and I talked quite a bit (even before the trip) and we have found that we share and have many personal traits (I ain't just talking straight shaving and all) in common. I am afraid that if we dig too deep, we may find out we are long lost brothers .
