Post Week of October 17 SOTD - Sunday

    Sunday Morning Shave

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Pre-Shave Oil: Truffit & Hill
Razor: 7/8 Wacker with Laser Etched Spine, Hollow, French Point
    Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Überlather: CarrieM's Lilac Shave Creme + Proraso Shave Soap + Glycerin
Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Lavender, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
    Cologne: Alt Innsbruck EDC
Result: Great way to start the SOTD for this week with the Wacker. This was one I hadn't used for a long while. With the thick, moist cushion afforded by the CarrieM/Proraso überlather (which is a great combo BTW), this blade was nothing short of a whisker's worst nightmare...in fact, I think it will become to be known as the "Whisker Whisperer". Finally, the Alt Innsbruck/Trumper's moisturizer concoction was an incredible finish to this incredible shave. My wife certainly approved of the smooth, soft skin that was left behind as a result of this exercise.

While practicing a scythe stroke with a straight yesterday, I gave myself a significant cut. Thus, the DE today. I forgot just how nice of a shave the DE can deliver.
    Have a great day, gentlemen!
Ooouuuchhhh ...I am sorry about the mishap Bill . Where is the cut and how deep?

For some odd reason, scything seemed more natural to me when I first started using the straight...I use it routinely around the neck...unless I am doing something else which I think is scything (which can happen )

    Warm water splash
Gentlemen's Best Signature Series Shave Soap
    New Forest #2201 2-Band Badger
    Kirschbaum Diamondine ⅝ths
    SRD Premium I Strop ... 35 Linen/80 Leather
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea AS Balm
    Aqua Velva Musk AS

The New Forest 2-band brush continues to impress...
I'm researching scuttles now that the "frost is on the punkin," so to speak... Both for their performance attributes, and to determine if I really want or need (as if that has anything to do with it) one. My first two attempts at trying to simulate a scuttle proceeded to kill my lather, but today I tried something a bit different... My usual smoked glass lather bowl in a glass pan full of hot water, although not as hot as my previous tries. It worked out well... As much warm lather as I desired, and it felt great, so it looks as though the scuttle idea may be a go...

We're off to a great start this week, gentlemen!

    Default Mini shaver

    Prep: Hot shower
    Razor: Torrey "Little Shaver"
Shave Soap: The last of my Mama Bears 'magnetism'
    After: Witchhazel/Nivea ASB

Results: Test shave for honing this neat little razor I just picked up. What a shave! Did 3 easy passes, didn't try too hard for anything special but the results was verrry smooth. Gotta love Torreys...the bottom pick is showing my old 6/8 Torrey with it's 'new' little brother for scale.

Thanks for the beautiful pics of some amazing razors fellas!

    New Forest Brush
    Trumpers Shave Cream
    Torrey Celebrated Barbers Notch
Stropped 30 Felt, 100 Leather on SRP P1

Great Shave with the Torrey again. It was honed by Dylan and I think it gets better as I use it. I really like the Torrey, going to have to find another.

Daughter returns to Florida today. I had a great weekend with her. The other one comes home next weekend!!!

    Enjoy the day!!

I already told you, today I visited the MUEHLE- factory in order to get a brush for travelling.
As you can see, I got 3 brushes
left a really nice travel-brush (badger)
    right a synthetic brush
and a little brush for decoration.

    The equipment is perfect.

Now it is difficult for me:
which brush I take with me to FL? The badger or the synthetic.
    I'll test both brushes.

    Default SOTD 10-17-2010

    Thanks Max!!!

    [LEFT]Prep: Hot Shower
Strop: SRD Premium IV Bridle 25 web/50 leather
    Scuttle: SRD
    Brush: TGN Custom Silvertip
    Cream: CarrieM's Black Raspberry vanilla
Razor: Dubl Duck Wonderedge quarter hollow in Blue/Green Paua Shell scales by Maximilian (hereafter referred to as Max).
    After Shave:Ogallala Sandalwood & Bayrum
Result: I got this razor early this week but wanted to save it until today so I could have time to really enjoy it. I had also saved the Black Raspberry vanilla cream as a first for today. I saw a razor in the SOTD some time ago that had blue paua shell scales by Max and I fell in love. Max was able to put this beauty together for me (very quickly too, thanks Max!). I can say that this razor shaves just as good as it looks. I couldn't even feel the blade cutting hair, Max puts an amazing edge on a blade and it is very polished. What an amazingly smooth shave. The sweet scent of the black raspberry cream, the effortless glide of the Dubl Duck, it was shave nirvana! 2 passes & BBS! This was another "Big Deal" razor for me. I've been wanting a razor done by Max since the first time I saw a SOTD post. Max's work is AMAZING and he is one heck of a nice guy. In case you couldn't tell, I'm a very satisfied customer! Thanks Max!

Have a great week gentlemen, you deserve it!
