Week of October 17 SOTD - Monday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Pre-Shave Oil: Almond Oil Razor: 6/8" Respecto #77, Hollow, Round Point Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger Überlather: CarrieM's Bay Rum Shave Creme + Mama Bear's Almond Shave Soap + Glycerin Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Lavender, no alcohol) Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer EDT: Penhaligon's Bleinheim Bouquet Result: Last night, I took the Respecto to my hones for a bit more practice time. This time, I used my Coti "La Veinette", dilucot method. It easily passed the HHT test, but 30X magnification showed a few scratch marks along the bevel/edge...The Y/G Escher took care of that. I decided not to stop there and took the process one step further using the Kiita/Asagi hybrid stone + Botan/Mejiro/Koma nagura slurry with dilution. Finished the edge with 50 laps on water (~0 pressure). The edge was extremely smooth and free of any scratches (that I could see using 30X mag). Well, the proof was in the pudding...this morning's shave was absolutely fantastic and BBS++!!! What an edge. I am slowly but surely beginning to get the hang of honing using a progression and mix of stones. As always, the CarrieM/MamaBear überlather was super thick and super moist, making the prep and experience an extremely enjoyable one.
Great SOTDs gentlemen. May you have a wonderful shave and productive Monday .

Gem Featherweight w/ Ted Pella (1)
Semogue 2009 LE #19
KD Creations Lavender ss
Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
KD Creations a/s milk
Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet Edt
A few days growth led me to the Gem Featherweight which has gone unused for months. I like to use a straight or a single edge when I have more than two days growth and as I worked out this morning my fine motor control was suspect so I passed on the straight. The KD Creations soap worked great and provides a smooth medium for the Featherweight which cleaned up my face in no time. I finished with Karen's a/s milk and a little Blenheim Bouquet sample to give it a try. Smooth as silk...
