Week of October 17 SOTD - Tuesday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Pre-Shave Oil: Almond Oil Razor: 7/8" Giesen & Forsthoff decorated back, Hollow, Spike Point Brush: 24mm Thäter Silvertip Badger Überlather: CarrieM's Bamboo Teak Shave Creme + Mama Bear's Myrrh Shave Soap + Glycerin Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Lavender, no alcohol) Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer After Shave Balm: Truffit & Hill Trafalgar Result: Today was a [Thäter + Giesen & Forsthoff] day. I had missed using this incredible brush (if interested, you can read my review, here). It is very, very close to my Shavemac (can't tell the difference in a blind test). But, if you haven't tried a Shavemac or a Thäter, you don't know what you are missing. The craftsmanship and quality of these two brushes are truly worth their weight in gold. I yet have to have them shed a single hair. The Thäter whipped one heck of a super, überlather with CarrieM's creme and Mama Bear's soap. And of course, one cannot forget about the Giesen & Forsthoff...I snatched this baby a couple of months ago from Don in the classifieds...and haven't regretted the decision. What a blade and what an edge . Today's choice of creme/soap/blade/brush led to an enjoyably smooth and comfortable shave. And this is exactly what is so much fun about this sport: the endless combination in hardware + software.
PS: I feel like I am starting to sound like broken record by now with my SOTDs. Perhaps what would be in order is a little nick/slice here, a pull or tug there...just to spice up my stories, but what can I say? for now, I have to settle with good ol' boring . I should be careful what I wish for ...it may come true.
It's all this wonderful information that I owe all of my good shaves to...pure and simple!! So.. a special thanks goes to all of you that contribute not only to this SOTD section, but also beyond its boundaries, making SRP the powerful educational tool that it is. I just hope that one day, this humble wetshaver can return the favor in kind .
In the meantime, great SOTDs gentlemen. Have a great Tuesday .

Razor: 11/16 Wade & Butcher, Full Hollow, French Point - in Violetwood
Pre-Shave: Proraso Crema Pre Barba
Shaving Cream/Soap; Uberlather: Musgo Real & Classic Shaving Sandalwood
Soap Scuttler: Ceramic Lord Nelson
Scuttle: RAB Ceramic
Brush: Col Conk Barbershop Badger
ASB: Nivea Replenishing
Aftershave/Cologne: Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum
Results: Very interesting!
My Uberlather creation was very nice. The pure Sandalwood SS is really too sweet smelling to use alone but, mixed with some Musgo Real SC it toned down the sweetness and produced a great lather as well. I used the W & B today because I rescaled it in the Violetwood and wanted to give it a spin. I'm trying to mix in some DE and SE shaves and change up on the shave creams and shave soaps to keep the morning shaves interesting and different.
