Post Week of October 17 SOTD - Friday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Razor: 6/8" Wacker "Wickinger", Near Wedge, French Point
    Brush: 25mm Vestavia Silvertip Badger
    Soap: Tabac + Glycerin
Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Dr. Hauschka's Quince Creme
    AS Splash: Tabac
Result: Today is finally Tabac day; both start and finish. Boy...Max, Frank (aka, Fbones) and Matt (aka, thewatermark) and the rest of you (you know who you are, flying under under the radar) were right. This soap is (and smells) awesome!!! I ordered all 3 (soap, cologne and AS from eBay). So good in fact, that I didn't have the heart to mix it with any other creme for my usual über-formulation. I think I will need to get myself the creme for that and complete the set (I can already see the genesis of one heck of an überlather). Nevertheless, I got a pretty nice, thick lather with soap + glycerin. I don't know why, but with the Tabac, it only seemed fitting to reach for the Wacker. As usual, I got an incredibly smooth and comfortable shave to finish the work week. The finale/finishing touch was with my new Tabac AS...Wooowwwww!!! absolutely incredible.

...And continuing on with the yesterday's "semi-theme" of posting pictures of our "younger years", here's one of me when I was 3-ish (in a bow tie...which, I still love wearing to this day).

That's one heck of a beautiful blade buddy. Is that a frameback or are my eyes playing tricks on me as I am getting older (and in denial)? Love the etching on the blade too and sounds like you've got yourself a winner brush there
Thanks Robert, since I can´t shot as nice pics as you, I have to go for nice blades instead, lol. It´s a fuax frameback though, so in a way your eyes are playing tricks, I guess The NF brushes aren´t the biggest brushes out there (22 mm), but really niffty and with great precision. I´ve got three and will have two more custom made in a couple of weeks. Lather monsters.

That's too bad about the soap. Is the brush picking up enough soap in the first place? If you're using a drier brush, try a slightly wetter one to see if it helps pick up the soap better. If it's a wetter brush, try a drier one. If it keeps not working, I'd contact Don for some tips.

    Default Finally!

    Hey, 'Runner

'Been waiting to hear about how that wedge shaved. 'Don't know if you honed, or if it's the edge as delivered by John. The stosser edge just flat amazed me, but didn't last (nor did the edge on the 1/4 hol). I re-honed, but in doing so, it lost much of it's amazing level of feedback for a wedge. 'Still shaves wonderfully, but not as much communication. The bevel size as delivered was TINY. I don't know how it was done. I honed w/out tape, and the bevel size at least doubled. Took a fine edge, but the audible and tactile feedback took a hit - something to think about if you re-hone. As it, it remains #2 on the 'most favored' blade list. JimmyH also loved his wedge, which is what prompted me to get the stosser. I'm betting you're gonna love that blade for a long time.

Thanks Pinklather...this animal still harbors the edge that John gave it. I've used it several times and still feels like the original, sharp edge. John hones without tape (as far as I know). I have a feeling that this edge will last awhile before it needs to go back to the hones. I will probably refresh it as soon as I feel a bit of tug/pull.
