My Dad, after serving 10 years in the Navy, joined the Army when war broke out in Europe. He saw alot of action with the 110th Infantry Regiment on the beaches of Normandy, and in the Ardennes Forest. Some of the scars never healed completely.
He's gone 35 years, and I miss him and his counsel to this day... And I continue in my attempt to be half the man he was.

Bill, thanks for sharing such a personal story. I have so much respect for men like your father and their families who gave/give up so much so that freedom may endure. Thanks for honoring his memory in the SOTD.

Now, that's what I call a proper tribute . I am sure your dad would be proud. That's a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing. It is appreciated

PS: I remember the family photo from a another SOTD...very nice indeed. You and your wife should be proud.

Result: A great shave this morning. The blade mowed down the whiskers effortlessly. The coffee scent of Mama Bear's soap was great as I sipped a hot cup of coffee while making my lather. Tried some new angles for the jaw line this morning and was rewarded. The Cuba Red is an inexpensive EDT, but I love the smell (smells like a cigar humidor).

The picture in the background is a photo I took of the Eiffel tower at night when I was in Paris a few years ago. Have a great day gentlemen, you deserve it!
Oooh Lala Glenn...Zas is a wonderful, huh, comment est-ce qu'on dit? La Grande shave, hein? tout saimplement merveilleux

Paris at night is absolutely beautiful...Brings back memories, eh?

Thank you for sharing your shaves, gentlemen

Today I've been walking with the camera in hand through the valleys near Gipuzkoa

The palace-tower of Donamaria, it is a defensive building. It was restored because it was demolished in the XV century after the conquest of the Kingdom of Navarre by the Kingdom of Castile.

The trees are losing their leaves or painting them in red

Red frog, endemic of the Atlantic forests of Spain, protected by law and rarely seen.

And yes, I have a shave this morning...

Now we see that your beautiful photography is not limited to shaving pictures. Spain looks lovely, and you have a tremendous eye for capturing its beauty. Thank you for sharing!

Default First SOTD in a while

    Prep: Hot shower
Shave cream & soap: KD Creations Sage & Citrus
    Shave brush: shavemac best badger
Razor: Boker Barbers' Best in abalone scales

When I opened the box, I couldn't believe that it was the same razor (see upper right hand razor: http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...ore-finds.html). These picture don't do justice to Max's handiwork. Three days' growth easily wiped away effortlessly and with style...

Bonus points to anyone who can identify the stylized wooden object in the photo and country of origin
