Week of October 31 SOTD - Saturday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Razor: 5/8" Wade & Butcher "Special", Hollow, Spike Point Brush: 22mm New Forest 2211 Silvertip Badger Überlather: Castle Forbes Lime Shave Creme + Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap + Glycerin Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Lavender, no alcohol) Moisturizer: D.R. Harris Arlington AS Milk AS Splash: D.R. Harris Marlborough AS Result: I decided to use two new items I received recently - 1) one of my restores/rescales by Glen; the W&B "Special", and 2) my New Forest brush. I had initially acquired the W&B from Jeremy (aka ShavedZombie) but wanted to breathe a little more life and personality into her...So, to Glen it went. And this was the gist of the response I got from Glen when he got her; "Here's the deal", he said..."we can do this the easy way or the hard way...Leave me alone and I promise that you will not be disappointed" . Translation (in my mind): don't even begin to think about telling me what to do !!! This "Modus Operandi" was a little outside of my comfort zone as I like to be involved in my projects...but appreciating an artist's need for imagination and space, I bit the bullet and agreed...but all the while, I was thinking to myself: "What the heck is he going to do to my blade?", or "I hope he doesn't put something on it that I don't like", or "Please God...whatever it is, don't let it be anything that glows in the dark". Nerve wrecking waiting period I tell you. But at the end (a few days ago), it all paid off...Glen came through (see here), giving this Special W&B a beautiful polish and some vintage clothing. Now this W&B shines and is truly "Special"...and as most of you who have had projects done with Glen know: a wickedly sharp edge is the common denominator. Phhewwww! I barely made out of this one with my face intact. If it wasn't for the cushion/glide of the Castle Forbes/MWF/Glycerin überlather, this thing would have had a field day with my jugular. So, thank you Glen for a wonderful job and especially for bringing her back to life . As for the brush; I really like it (especially for the price). It has good backbone and the tips are soft. The D.R. Harris milk/AS finished the job this W&B started and my skin feels extremely smooth and refreshed. Now feel a bit nostalgic and sad that a wonderful shave like this has to come to an end...but rejoice to the thought that there's always tomorrow. Hmmm...And what should I use tomorrow ?

KD Creations Sage & Citrus sc
Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
Floid Vigoroso a/s
Anherb a/s conditioner
Peterman 1903 Edt
A terrific shave this morning with the Solingen. I dragged out the 1903 from behind all my Edts and remembered why I liked it in the first place. Freshly ground Kenyan AA to go along with the shave made it that much more enjoyable.

I call this my SHTF Kit... With the camo scales, no one will be able to see me shaving, and the 7mm Dakota will speak for itself... and with a fair amount of authority!
I haven't pursued Mr. Deer for a good few years now. We never put much of a dent in the population anyway, but we had a great group of guys that used to go into camp... Some of the fondest memories I have!
One guy is chasing whitetails in the Great Beyond. Another gave up due to emphesema, and yet another to macular degeneration. It's sad to think of the old times, but it helps to remember that no one's gettin' outta' here alive!
So, I still go and sight in the rifle anyway... This one happens to be waaaay too much gun for the thick woods of New York, but whenever I feel a bit too big for my britches, shootin' a rifle usually knocks me back into line!
And, I still end up with two rump roasts marinating in the fridge... Destined for Venison Sauerbraten early next week...
