I've always liked this blade, but never felt like it was quite up to snuff at the edge. So, this weekend, I took it to my BBW/Coticule combo stone. I'd never really played with this stone, but I decided to experiment. After confirming the bevel was still solid, I raised a moderate slurry on the BBW and did 40 light X-strokes then I cleaned the stone and blade and did 40 more light X-strokes on the BBW. Then I raised a slurry on the coticule side and started doing X-strokes. After every 20 strokes, I added a few drops of water. I repeated this for about 4 dilutions. Afterwards, I took 60 X-strokes with water only. After a strop - I was treated to one of the smoothest edges I've felt against my face!

After one pass, I had a DFS, after two passes, I was BBS all over! What a feeling to start off a Wednesday!
Im glad you got her dialed in. I love revisor's Super smooth!!

Another gorgeous setup, Glen. Glad to hear you're getting such good results from your lather...

    Bill,
That is fabulous news on the honing front. Congratulations on achieving success buddy. It's a great feeling shaving with a razor that you honed yourself.

Excellent blade btw and glad to have you back in the land of the "bug-free"

    Excellent Glenn,
Water makes a HUGE difference indeed . The side benefit is that it is easier on your brush - i.e., less buildup of crud and thus less cleanup required.

    Great SOTD . I felt like singing/dancing

BTW: How do you link up your images from Flickr? When I tried, it just gives you a link...I want to make it such that the image appears directly. Any codes, etc...?
