11-20-2010, 01:30 PM #2Le Grelot a la Max | SRD Bulgarian Rose Otto | Best Badger Travel Brush | Thayers Lavender | Sandalwood SkinFood | Mazzolari Lui
I arrived in Las Vegas yesterday, and Max was gracious enough to have me out to his home. I had a great time as he showed me where all the magic happens in his restorations. He also showed me a number of projects he had in the works. It's great to see a true master at his craft!
Best of all, I had a wonderful time getting to know Max and his wife--and who could ever forget ViVi (I know Robert prefers her to Max)! They are truly genuine and generous people. The visit was awesome. Thank you!
Before he brought me back to my hotel, Max turned over possession of two blades he did for me. This Le Grelot took a tremendous amount of work as he did a regrind to get rid of all the pitting on the spine. Like all his razors, it turned out flawless. What a special blade to add to my collection! This morning I gave her a workout, and the answer is "Yes, she does shave as great as she looks!"
(sorry for the poor image quality - cellphone camera)
It's been a great week of shaves, gentlemen, keep them coming!

I love that Le Grelot Bill and what a way to take her for a spin with the SRD Rose. great choice
(1) Ain't that the truth? it is amazing. You probably saw Max' new toys too.
(2) You keep spreading rumors like that, he's going to start believing that it's true . Hmmmmm ....Too bad Vivi doesn't do restorations . She is a hoot. I love that dog.
In all seriousness, Max and wife (and Vivi) are a very good team and a wonderful and genuine couple. Even if there was no restorations, straight shaving etc, I consider myself lucky to know them...my wife feels the same. This is what makes this forum (and SRP in general) so much more interesting, at a personal level. I have been truly lucky to make some good friends some of which I have come to meet and know. Some I have not met yet (but always chat and email with) and would love to meet one day.

Week of November 14 SOTD - Saturday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Razor: 8/8" Dorko Solingen, Hollow, Round Point (Thank you Rene ) Brush: 22mm New Forest Silvertip Badger Überlather: D.R. Harris Lavender Shave Creme + D.R. Harris Lavender Shave Soap + Glycerin Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Lavender, no alcohol) Moisturizer: D.R. Harris After Shave Milk After Shave Splash: D.R. Harris Marlborough AS Result: I got my new NOS Dorko from Rene (aka, Nicknbleeding) yesterday and took her to the hones (Nani 1k, Coti, JNat) and she took on an amazingly sharp and smooth edge. The überlather from D.R. Harris lavender combo was divine (the scent seemed to be fitting on this rainy day in SoCal); super moist, thick and lots (and I mean lots) of cushion. A little went a very long way...I had enough left for (literally) 3 more passes. Man, this stuff is going to last me a very long time. The Dorko delivered an "out of this world" BBS and smooth shave . Thank you Rene for this wonderful blade. She's found a good home. Since I started with D.R. Harris, might as well go the whole nine yards...I finished the shave with D.R Harris milk + aftershave.

Have a fabulous Saturday gentlemen.
