It was one year ago yesterday I lost a good friend and neighbor at my adopted home in Indian Lake, N.Y.. He and his wife taught me alot about the mountains, accepting people for what they are and life in general.. kind of like the big brother I never had. It's times like this that cause me to reflect on my own mortality, and the inevitable conclusion that faces us all.
I don't know if I'll get into heaven or not... That question is still up in the air. I guess I'll find out when I get to the Pearly Gates whether they're open to me or not. But, if by some circumstance I do make it, I'm sure all the angels will have the face and voice of Lisa Kelly... That's my dream anyway. I have alot of old friends, both human and canine that I need to catch up with...

    Happy Thanksgiving to all...

I got a sample of the "Martin de Candre" shave soap in the mail from Joe (aka, Harvitz81) yesterday. Thank you Joe ...I really, really like the scent of this thing. Absolutely fantastic. Say what you want about the French...but, they know their scents and soaps . Even by itself, the soap produced a lather that was nothing short of excellent. And with this French soap, I instinctively had to use the Thiers-Issard (even though it's a Sheffield steel). The grind and size of this blade was a heavenly match with this soap. BBS shave for entire face in my usual 3 passes.

I am sorry you lost your friend and neighbor. After reading your very eloquent post I have concluded that when you care as much for people as it seems you do, I am certain those special gates will be open for you.

I wish I were able to be so eloquent in my writings and speaking.

Since the time is upon us, I will start: My most sincere wishes for a Healthy, Happy Holiday season to you and anyone who reads the passage.

    Bill,
I see that you are pontificating on the meaning of life and the afterlife . You and I aren't that different, it seems. I find myself thinking about this often, especially after the death of my aunt, my grandma and a very close friend in graduate school (died of leukemia in a matter of 3 months). There is not a day that goes by that I do not wonder about them. But as you say, the inevitable conclusion awaits us all ...There's no cheating it...sooner or later and as we get older, it seems like time starts ticking faster and faster. Someone needs to find a way to stop this clock from ticking...it's driving me nuts.

Yoda got a special place in my office and I think he will come back sometimes in the pictures.
Now I'll put some christmas stuff in my pictures.
As you know I live in Saxony near by the "Erzgebirge"(Erz Mountains/ Ore Mountains). There were produced/ manufactured the world famous "smoking men"; nutcracker and more.
We have a lot of these things, today my wife decoreted our home.

    No more jet lag, Max.

    Prep:Hot towel
    Brush:Semogue 830
Strop: SRD Premium IV English Bridle
    Scuttle: SRD
    Cream: da Bomb “Bodega”
    Razor: Genco “Easy Aces”
    After shave: Brut
    EDT: Burberry “Weekend”

Result: Today was the first day I used the Semogue 830 with a cream. I must say that I still prefer badger for cream and boar for soap. The spicy smell of the Bodega cream was intoxicating as I marinated my face in it. The Genco is a small, nimble blade very similar to the my Dubl Duck. The shave was smooth and easy and I'm ready to start the day. I took this week off and have been having some lazy mornings with my soon to be 2 year old little girl. She likes to brush my face and say “rough” before I shave and afterwards she will feel it and say “Smooooooth”. Gotta love that kid Have a great day gentlemen, you deserve it!
