Stone test Day 2: Today I repeated yesterday's honing on the same Rex razor. The result was very smooth again. I noticed a considerable difference in keenness of the two razors - the Suita stone yesterday seemed to definitely win. I thought smoothness was going to the Assagi until I went ATG. The Suita then pulled ahead once again. Tomorrow begins the nagura progression comparison!
Great shave! Gentlemen, your SOTDs continue to inspire and awe me!

The Tower Brand straight is a real favorite. It's sharp as a tack, and due to meet Mr. Coticule after today's shave, so my analytical mind can compare...

Thanked: 13246Thursday Morning !!!
What a fun honing 2 days on this one,
This Kamisori came in for honing, and I have to share the tale, when I first looked at it I said to myself " Huh shouldn't be to tuff just a quick touch up"
So I set up to hone on it Tuesday with a few others, but I wanted to try this one out, so I lather real quick, and go for a test shave, "Nuttin Honey" nary a hair cut.
Well I finally notice that this thing has a frown, I start thinking to myself how the heck do you put a frown on freaking 1 inch of blade. Well sure enough a quick check with a straight edge shows it to be true, I of course find out what the story was from the owner, the razor has not been used, since it was purchased, they sent it to me to touch up before they give it as a gift...
So I set out to take the frown out of 1 inch of blade, which I must tell you guys was not so easy You just don't have the ability to do the gymnastics that you can on a longer blade...
I ended up using a variation of the side honing technique to get out the frown, then figured out that this razor only liked the 5/1 ratio for honing. Every single time I tried to vary from that I would lose the edge..
Finally this morning I got it all sorted out and ended up on my Nakayama Midori (of course) to finish the edge, and had a nice smooth shave with this baby...
