It´s a bit early to say (three test lathers and one live one), but first impression: softer bristles and better abillity suck up water and soap. The fan shape I like = more badger hair on the face. I tend to like them a little stiff and I got one with short loft (45 mm). I´m very happy with it this far.
I hear you Mikael...looking forward to a more thorough report after a few weeks of use.

    Bruce,
Nice blade my friend. I had missed seeing your collection. It's like seeing them for the first time all over again.

Haha...That's the plan, LOL. In fact, tomorrow is also Shave day-off. So, Monday will be the day. The shave feels so much more wonderful after 2 days of break.

I am not much of a football fan, but I enjoy the 1/2 time commercials. Very creative.

Another beautiful blade. I need to find out where you live and when you'll be on vacation, LOL.

    Hey Rich,
It's always great to see you and your gear around SOTD. In fact, I would say it's a first class treat. Nice blade and scuttle. In fact, I ordered one (same Double Scuttle) from Julie a little over a week ago (color: blue rim on spice)...Can't wait to put it to good use. I am getting a little bored with the HotPot Express everyday and needed a little variety in my shave den, LOL.

    Thank you Robert.

It has been a tough few weeks around here, running around with so little time and more things than I can remember to do. LOL.

    I do miss posting SOTDs.

    Regards,
    Lu

    Made By Me Shave
    -My PreShave Oil-
    -Home Made shave soap-
    -Brush restored by me-
    -Die Quelle 4/8-
    -Gillette aftershave balm-

The oil and soap I made and I must say work well together. The brush I restored (restored while maintaining wornoutness) with a knot from the goldennib.com. The razor I honed down to a 4/8 to get rid of a couple chips.

    Prep:Hot towell
    Brush: TGN custom 24mm
    Strop:SRD PIV English Bridle
    Cream: Polo like bomb
Razor: B.J. Eyre Wedge (just finished up the restore, more pics later)
After shave: Al's custom ASB Polo like
    EDT: Polo Blue

Result:This blade is one I started on about 7 months ago. The scales are bone and cleaned up very nice. The blade has some very deep pitting and I will likely leave the deepest sections to avoid destroying her. This was my first time honing a wedge...and one with a smile...grrrr. The shave was good, not great, some more work to do on the hones.

Thanks to all for an amazing week!

A number of you have said it already but I have to say thanks you to all those who take the time and effort to provide these amazing photos every day! It would make the thread too long to thank everyone in particular but all should know how much value you add to this forum thread with your posts and beautiful pics everyday. WELL DONE!

Thanks Tom! I used 1 layer of tape through out the honing process (changing to a new piece after each grit). It's a slight smile (crappy cell phone pic, no time to set up the light box today) and the heel was the problem area, had to really focus on the rolling x pattern to improve it. I can't wait to see the frameback, sounds very nice!

    Cheers!
