    Try it Victor!
By my mind the provided hone and strop doesn't work really good.
    But..you should try it!

    Friday 2/18/11

    Union Cutlery Spike 4/8
    New Forest 2211
    Prairie Creations Pine Needle sc
    Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
    Floid Vigoroso a/s
    Anherb a/s balm
    Gris Clair Edp

A fine shave this morning with the Spike, a razor I picked up at a local flea market and cleaned up and honed on my coticule. It's a great feeling to have brought this one back to working condition. It's another "local" product with Union Cutlery being located in Olean, New York back in the day. The PC cream always provides great conditioning for the face but I seem to have difficulty working up a good lather. I don't have that difficulty with the PC soaps, so it must be me. A fine finish with the Floid, Anherb and the Gris Clair. And today will be better than yesterday.

Post Week of February 13 SOTD - Friday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Razor: 7/8" Friodur INOX, Scalloped Back, Full Hollow, Spike Point, Black Paper Micarta (Restored by Max)
Strop: 5/10 (Torolf linen/Premium IV leather)
Überlather: Acqua Di Parma Shave Creme + Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber
Cologne: Acqua Di Parma "Colonia" EdC
Results: This beautifully rescaled Friodur is the sixth razor in the line up of seven from Max . She was also honed up by me to a very sharp and smooth edge. To complement this beauty, my wife suggested using the Acqua Di Parma creme to make the lather. I took her suggestion a bit further and figured that this will go very well with the MWF...What an überlicious lather this combination turned out to be. Another very satisfying and clean shave.

    1930 Gillette Fat Handle Tech
    Astra Superior Platinum Blade
Cella SS & Classic Shaving Sandalwood SS
    Medium Badger
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Replenishing ASB
    Adidas Dynamic Pulse ASL

Everything was superb except the Cella. I am just not getting this SS at all. I know that it's a favorite of many Brothers here but to me it reminds me of the home-made lye soap that my Grandma used to make on the farm. It has just about that caustic smell with just a hint of the fells-naptha bar soap smell that my other Grandma used to shave into the laundry tub of her old wringer washing machine. It produces those big laundry bubbles and is about as dense as surf foam. The only way I can get it to work at all is mix in some other shave soap but what's the point in that? I will say for the big tub at only $11. bucks it's definitely cheap but that is the point! Sorry but I'm just not feelin' the love for Cella!

Really enjoyed the shower and shave today. Played one of my favorite albums while shaving (Led Zeppelin II). The day continues with lunch with a group of guys from my old squad this afternoon.
Sounds like a great day Jeff. Nice choice of music too.
    G.

Thats a beautiful shot today Robert.

    Thanks BB,
I'll check it out next time I'm in the mall. I am surprised the Shavemac shed even a single hair. The ones that I have (4 so far), have yet to shed one hair.

Wowww...a shop that recommends straight shaving...go figure, LOL

    Nathan,
That's a fine shave indeed. How do you like shaving with small straights? Also, congrats on bringing her back to life...It's always a great satisfying feeling when one does it oneself.

    Hey Bruce,
Wowww...that sounds like an amazing shave (minus the Cella). I guess you're trying to catch up with those times you were MIA, LOL?

PS: Sorry the Cella is not giving you the love you seek from a soap :-(
