Thanked: 1072Strop: Illinois 835Thanks for all the great posts and pics guys.
Soap: Proraso (white)
Razor: Ern Crown & Sword 6/8
A/S Balm: Nivea Replenishing Post Shave
A/S: Wahl Bay Rum
I took this one to the C12k and gave it 80 laps going from slurry to plain water, but its still not quite there. I find this razor quite tricky to get a real sweet edge on. Still, not a bad shave though. Two laps got me nice and smooth. I'll try something different and see if I can make any improvements.

02-22-2011, 11:43 AM #103Tuesday shave.
I have been away for a time in Paris and has really missed my shaving gear and Straight razors. Apart from that, Paris is a wonderful place to be!
Todays shave started with stropping the T-I 7/8 Rams horn on the SRD Black Latigo. 40 linen and 60 leather gave a very sharp edge. Pre shave was quality hair conditioner and hot water.
Todays brush was what has become my favorite, a Simpson Tulip 3. It has the softest hairs I have ever experienced by a margin. Just like silk to the skin, and a master with creams.
Castle Forbes Lavender for the first time this morning. I understand why CF by many are considered the best. The Lavender smell is so fantastic pure and natural, and the performance of the cream was stunning. Very little product was needed to make tons of lather. I`m glad I ordered two Lavender and two Lime`s from this wonderful producer.
I shaved for a long time with several passes just to enjoy beeing home with my straight`s again. Result was clean as my fiance`s sister new born little girl, hehe.
To finish I used Musgo Reals Aftershave balm, also a very fine product imo, left my skin silky smooth and relaxed.
Have a great day all.

This wedge is indeed an odd duck. Compared to the extra hollow grounds it gives all the feedback of a butter knife. As such, it's easy to be fooled into thinking it's dull or not getting the job done. Then you do a three pass shave and you're BBS. Yeah, it's hit and miss sometimes with this razor but today I'd say it hit. I'm beginning to believe that the Alum Block/Cold Water/moisturizer will quick become my default aftershave, followed of course by a strong AS (Clubman, British Sterling, or Jovan Musk) or cologne finishThe older I get, the better I was

FABULOUS SOTDs
Tom,
I don't like the temperature, but the razor is to die for. beautiful post my friend.
Thank you sir, but I believe that you made mine with your beautiful AK brush. I love the handle.
It's Proraso/Livi combo day...Love the Italian theme for the day Otto
Congratulations on receiving your new "toys" and a great shave.
Your thoughts were not ramblings. I appreciated your input very much.
Congrats Mikael and figuring and dialing in the sweet spot for this soap. It sounds wonderful. Beautiful blade and congratulations on your acquisition of the SWK scuttle.
I agree, Neil makes great strops. I have his linen (as per Max' recommendation when I was visiting him) and I have not regretted it. It (and the Torolf linen) have replaced my webbed fabric for good.
Fonti,
That looks like one heck of a DOVO. beautiful . Love the Shavemac
Rum,
What a nice choice of gear. I love alliances, LOL. Well done sir.
Waaaay too much info...more than I needed to know (LOL), but good to hear it worked out for both of you.
PS: Welcome to SOTD.
Great shot Grant. Love that razor. Is that the C12K in the box or your Thuringian (or other)?
PS: How's the apprenticeship going?
Arild,
Being in Paris ain't too shabby. Enjoy it. My wife and I love that city.
Beautiful blade, brush and creme. In fact, Al's cremes were based on CF. If you think CF is great, give Al's cremes a shot. You will fall in love...guaranteed!!
Bill,
That's an amazing blade. Gotta love Butterscotch Micarta. Have a great and productive day my friend. Was nice chatting with you yesterday
W&B razors are truly on top of their game. I haven't used one I didn't like.
