Thanked: 2516Great to hear that the CarrieM Bay Rum is a match for the Ogallala. The latter is my favorite Bay Rum scent. (although Pinaud VIBR is in a class all to itself!) The Ogallala always has that pithy waxy feel to the lather and it dries out pretty fast. I would have thought the Glycerin would have given it some body and elasticity. At any rate, great report Robert!
I picked this Tiger up in an antique store for $19. bucks and it was so unique that I had to have it prettied up. Glenn (gssixgun) worked his majic on it and it's like a beautiful new razor. It has a place of honor in my shadow box on the Shave Den Wall. Thanks for noticing!

Saturday morning
Prep: Hot shower
Brush: New Forest Tubby 2
Razor Filarmonica DT 13
Soap: Nannys The Spicey One
AS: Old Spice Lime
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean
I think I get Nannys new formula ... Itīs more slick, how thatīs even possible I donīt know, but thatīs it + it holds together really fine, in combination with being a damned fine soap to start with. Maybe a touch softer than the reg formula aswell. Very good anyhow!

What a scales!! the blade looks awesome with this wooden cloth
say the truth, buddy, you have this one neglected for years and it has been rescued for this pic and to prove us that there is a boar among the Mules ,...Tomorrow a Muehle (fantastic brushes ) will be in the pic,....
Sorry, I didn't know this detail. But as it's said in the Basque country if it was good for the father it will be good for the son

Robert,
you wrote:
"Those two were exactly the ones I picked as synthetic too . The real question in my mind is (and I know you fell this): will I be able to tell the difference in a blind test?"
By my mind:
If you have brushes with the same dimension you'll not feel a difference.
But I really favorizes Silvertips.
For travelling I'll use in the future only the new synthetic.
Please realize: The blue one is only a test-brush. I'll order a brush-head with the new synthetic bristles and use it at my nickel-travel-brush.
Robert,
you told me:
"I hear you Tom...Do you think all synthetic brushes will be this high quality that I won't feel the difference or just Muhle? For traveling, it may be an interesting choice."
I don't know! I have only these two synthetic brushes by Muehle.
Again: I'll visit Muehle-factory in spring. There I'll take a look at brushes with the same size like a Silvertip, take some pictures and maybe buy a big one of the new synthetic bristle brushes. So I can directly test, if there are some differences.
My first impression was, this one looks and feels like a Silvertip.
Congrats to Frank (Fbones)
He posted his 1K
Thanks again, Jose.
It works very well, I love such big blades.
I use this brush sometimes, because I got the boar from my father who died in 1998.
That's no prob, Jose.
I really like boar- brushes, they work very well too.Last edited by Maximilian; 03-05-2011 at 03:26 PM. Reason: Merged
