+1, I dont know how you do it but I really appreciate that you do.
I turned the computer on this morning and saw 6 pages in less than 24 hours. I'm lucky just to read it all let alone comment.
    Thanks Robert and thanks everyone.

    Default SOTD 2/27/2011

Shave was done after my shower, COLD water shave as per my usual routine. 3 pass (WTG/XTG/ATG). This was hands down the best shave I have had in my 15 years of straight shaving. This was also my first experience with the Essence of Scotland soap. That soap is downright magical! As slick as an UberLather, but with only soap. After a tablespoon of cold water sat on the soap, I dumped the water in my mug and started building lather. In 20 seconds I had more GOOD lather than any other soap I have ever tried. After 60 seconds, it was overflowing. The scent is AMAZING, you're not going to find another soap this unique. And yes, the lather lasts. 3 passes and I had more than enough left over.

    The goods:
    AOS Sandalwood Pre-Shave Oil
Essence of Scotland "Sweet Gale" Soap
    AOS Pure Badger Brush
Wade & Butcher 7/8+ Half Hollow (pre 1890)
SRD Red Latigo Strop (50 web/80 Leather)
    Shavex Alum Block
    Witch Hazel
    Osage Rub
    Sandalwood Skin Food

Interesting razor, although very nice. Does the angle of the handle make it strange to hold?

Thank you Grant. Today was a relatively lazy day, and I had all the time in the world. I usually try to comment to each post and accumulate them throughout the day until ready to post. That one long post you guys see starts in the AM and gets posted in the middle or end of day depending on how many there are. I hope that makes sense. This way, I save on time too and don't have to answer all in one swoop move...a bit more time efficient and less effort.

Wowww...best in 15+ years? Now, that's what I call historical shave. Congrats Arbroath. That's a beautiful W&B and the soap does indeed sound magical.

I really have not found a better soap. On my last SRD order, I purchased some SRD soap samples. I guess to be fair to Lyn I can try them...

That W&B actually just came in last night from ebay. Who knows how long ago it was last honed. After stropping it, it easily cut arm hair. What better test than to try it on my face I figured! I couldn't believe how well it performed. I am sending it out to get looked at and honed next week. Who knows how well it will shave then? Maybe I'll just be forced to sell my other razors......

    Monday morning.
I was told to post some pictures with razors by Buddel.
I'll do so, but I have only one custom-razor, created by Buddel.
The others I'll post this week he restored and rescaled.
    Have fun.
    My personal SOTD:

    soap: Mitchell's
    brush: Vintage boar
    razor: Buddel
    AS: Brut

With a view like that I think I could shave with a nail file and still be happy with the results!

I'm a big fan of the TOBS Lemon & Lime, it is an invigorating scent.

The oscar definitely goes to Robert. In my short time here it has become clear that he brings this thread together and makes it a community. Cheers!
