Thank you! I have been thinking of myself more like a razor slut. Waking up every morning with a different blade. Not remembering the blade before. Oh the humanity!!!

I find Stone's Oaked Arrogant Bastard to go very well with a shave, but that's just me.

I have thought about this a lot during my journey as a wetshaver. On a macro-scale, this statement does make sense, but at the micro-level, it is nonsense (pardon the expression). If the edge of the blade doesn't touch the skin, there is no way on this earth that it will cut the whiskers at their base. The blade has to touch the skin. In my view, there are two parameters at play (aside from angle and pressure):

    1. Sharpness/smoothness (blade edge): The sharper the blade, the easier it becomes to cut hair. This, we all know
    2. Friction (lather): this is where quality of lather comes into play. The ideal lather will not prevent the blade from touching your skin, but will act as a barrier to reduce (or eliminate, in the ideal case) friction.

The interplay between friction and sharpness is what determines a shave to be irritation free or not. But, that's just my 2 cents.
I completely agree with you. I think this morning it was more about exaggerating the idea in an effort to be more aware of no pressure. I find this kind of mental exercise to work well when focusing on mechanical motion (I had a swim coach who really helped my stroke improve in efficiency by making me swim with my hands in a fist. The focus on the mechanics of movement forced me to constantly think of how to most efficiently "grab" and "pull" myself through the water. When I resumed using an open palm and kept my mental focus on efficiency, I could swim much faster, with fewer strokes, and less energy, loss of breathe, etc).

Thanks. The OpusX is an amazing scent. It is a staple in my travel kit.

I am a big fan of the TOBS lavender scent in both the soap and cream. Shaved with it today in fact. Great SOTD.
