Nice shave indeed...Is that always the "exact" usual time you get in the bathroom?

Very nice shot and shave. I really like that bowl (fabulous colors). It has character. The Ogallala Bay Rum + Limes & Peppercorn is nice, eh?

    Birnando,
A beautiful start to Easter holiday with that EPBD my friend. Enjoy the day with the kids. I am sure they're can't wait for their first Tivoli visit.

Congrats Rene...Filis take on a heck of an edge. You don't want to wait 3 days for another shave...that's torture, LOL

Post Week of April 17 SOTD - Monday

Honing Experiment (Series 2 - Shapton Pro "Sharpen/Polish/Finish")

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 22mm New Forest Silvertip Badger
Razor: 6/8" Geneva Cutlery, Full Hollow, Round Point (from Rene)
    Honing Regimen: Shapton Pro 1k/2k/5k/12k
Strop: 0 laps (Neil Miller linen/Premium IV leather)
Überlather: TABAC Shave Creme + TABAC Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue
Results: Today was the first of the series #2 experiments with the Shapton Pros (from 1k, all the way to 12k). Again, for more of the edge results, see HERE. OMG!!!! What a smooth edge and an amazing shave...and this was just with the 12k. I can only imagine what taking this to the 30k (which I do not have) would have done. This shave is rated as follows: (1) Sharpness: 9.5-10.0, and (2) Smoothness: 9.5. I didn't go full BBS today as I need to shave tomorrow for an important meeting with the Provost of USC. So, tomorrow's shave will be with the JNat + Atoma edge. I will not repeat the "JNat + Nagura progression" since this was already done last week.

Have a BEAUTIFUL Monday gentlemen .

Those are my favourite stones and the edges I get from Neil are stupied nice. We did a test once, where he honed several blades on different finishing hones (a Japanes natrual, a Y/G Esher and Shapton pros) and I liked the ones best that had been honed on all the way on the Shaptons. It was never a question about that result for me.

Edited: You don´t allways need to go all the way to 30k, often 16k is enough, as I understand it.

Robert, this is the same Weyerberg "Coronet" I featured in last week's SOTD. I honed it for Rene. It's a sweet 8/8 blade and Rene made some pretty cocobolo scales to show it off! I was merely fortunate enough to get to play with it, but she's on her way back home now...

    Very interesting results Robert!
Looks like you are getting pretty close to a 10/10 shave now.
The Shaptons seem to be a pretty sweet set of hones
I'm enjoying following this experiment of yours, and would like to thank you for sharing them with all of us.

    Lovely shot as well
