This is only a phase I'm goin through Rene That Focus and a few others will go to my Grand Son someday, but if I were to sell, you would be my first contact
Ya no, these SE's are really not bad, they are kinda like a straight with a handle,
They actually sound like your shaving with a near wedge and its very
easy to achieve a BBS shave if you want. I'm a straight shaver, doing some experimentation's
just cause "I like it to much" Cheers my Friend

This evenings shave started with a hot shower and Stephan's SC rubbed into the whiskers.
    Warm oil
    Dirty bird Scuttle
    Boar Brush
Trumper's Violet shave cream with a dag of glycerine
Hibbard, Spencer and Bartlett & Co., Our very best
    AOS Aluminum
    Lilac Vegetal
    Vaseline for men

I ran this razor on the 4000/8000 today. I did the progression and after speaking with Rene this afternoon decided to also run it on a 12K. Did the 12K and then 15 laps on Crox, 50 on linen and 50 on leather.
The razor then treated me to a fabulous shave. I am very happy the way the edge turned out. I guess it had a good bevel and needed a little TLC.

I went looking for information on this razor and found out something interesting. Here is a short history:

...When longtime company employee A. C. Bartlett became a partner in 1882, the company's name became Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett & Co. When Spencer died in 1890, the company was already among the leading wholesalers of hardware in the United States. In 1903, the year Hibbard died, the company opened a 10-story warehouse next to State Street Bridge in downtown Chicago. In 1932, the company introduced a new line of hand tools under the brand name “True Value.”...

I am feeling a bit nostalgic lately so I included two items of my daughters. I saved a favorite pair of shoes and a piece of a crib mobile from my girls.

    Enjoy the evening.

    Default Monday's Shave...

    Pre: Hot Shower
    Razor: Geneva Pyramid 6/8
    S.C.: Proraso
    AS: Colors A.S. Balm

Have been having a run of very good shaves lately, and just waiting for the bottom to fall out...not tonight! 2 passes + partial third. Smooth as a freshly waxed hardwood floor.

Had the house to myself for a nice leisurely shave.

I know...easy to get. I have a great source on eBay who sent me a bunch of full size samples too.

Yeap. True. The 16k is with the Shapton GS. The pros series (ones I use...not that I am a pro) jump from 12k to 30k...no intermediate. The pros are terrible for Stainless Steel (in my hands)...Nothing happens. For SS blades, best to use the GS series.

Looks like you are getting pretty close to a 10/10 shave now.
The Shaptons seem to be a pretty sweet set of hones
I'm enjoying following this experiment of yours, and would like to thank you for sharing them with all of us.

    Lovely shot as well
Thank you Birnando. I appreciate the kind words. It's been fun. Wait 'til I get you some SEM pictures of some the edges of blades (crappy ones that Rene sent me...which he doesn't care for) with different honings. Not that it will mean anything, but at least it'll be fun. Just for laughs.

    Oscar,
Well I guess what they say is true then. Man cannot live with his blades alone, LOL. Are you still on the road? Be safe. Great shave

    Jeff,
Nice nostalgic shave with a terrific razor with some very interesting history behind it. Thanks for sharing. I see that Rene has gotten you hooked to the C12k, LOL.

Sounds like an awesome shave Jason. Why would you think that the bottom will fall out? It always gets better.
