Just did one pass today and boy-o-boy do I feel civilized. Though I'm not quite back on my feet this has made me feel a whole lot better.
    Ah life is good.
    Oscar,

Welcome back chief. Glad to hear that you feel better.

Sorry to report that it's probably the most ergonomically compromised blade I've come across, if you leave aside the antique which doesn't have a tail. In all honesty the razor is only a fair shaver, but I haven't the heart to retire such a pretty piece of steel (and I'm still quietly pleased with those scales). Today's shave:

Buddel 6/8 in desert ironwood; New Forest 2211 silvertip; soap sample from Artisan (version 5); witch hazel; Chanel Platinum Egoiste cologne.

This is the bigger of the two Buddels I'm lucky enough to own, and it's a bit more of a handful than the 5/8 in more ways than one. This thumb notch does work! Since it's such a handsome beast, here's another pic:

    Shave of the Day
    April 30, 2011

Pre: Hot shower, Nivea Face Wash, Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil Soap
Shave cream: Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar shave cream
    Brush: Omega Scarlatti
Razor: Merkur 38C with Derby razor
    Astrigent: RazorBack alum block
Post shave: Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar after shave balm
    Cologne: Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar

I let my whiskers grow for a few days, four to be exact. So I made sure to get a good pre-shave ritual before the actual shave. Previously I used the Derby with mixed feelings but in all fairness, I rushed the previous shave and I didn't use the glyce soap. I think it made a big difference.

The Derby blade cut the hairs off my face effortlessly and this was my second go with the same blade. Got a nice BBS shave and very pleased with the Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar. This is still a sample that I still haven't used up. I can't believe these little samples can give you a good three if not four shaves out of them.

Anyway, I am still perfecting my photos. I am an amateur photographer and I am enjoying the challenge of photographing the shave tools. Amazing how much detail we can capture with these shots.

Gentleman, enjoy the rest of your weekend as I will mine. See you all on the next SOTD.

We met at the Friendly Restaurant a few blocks way. Since I was early I stopped at the "Between Rounds" for a cup of coffee and to use their Wifi. I had a wonderful morning with Rene. We had breakfast at the Friendly. I really enjoyed meeting him and am certain I'll find my way back up there. My wife was born in Springfield so I am sure a weekend in the area would suit her fine. Rene's daughter did not make breakfast as she met up with a friend for the morning.
I left for home with several samples of shave cream to try and I left Rene with my Engstrom Ivory Scale Frame Backs to try out. I hope he enjoys them as I do.
The ride home was fast. I ran the highway with a Mercedes Benz SLS Gull Wing 6.3. The car sounded amazing and looked very sinister. the first 110 miles went by quickly. The last 8 miles took an hour.

Bill, as soon as I return from Florida in mid May, DC is my next stop.
