Lovely experiment my friend. I admit, I have done the two finisher thing as well from time to time. I found it to be overkill too. But hey, why not? It's fun...Does Chosera make higher grits than 10K?

Love that Palmera. She's a beauty. You're lucky I don't live near you buddy. I'd be there all the time, drooling over your collection, LOL
Yeah, it's a lot of fun playing around with all these lovely hones.
I even went out and bought some more JNats today

The Chosera ends at 10K. But to be honest, that is all I could ever need before I go to my favorite finisher.
I did however get a Suehiro Gokumyo 20K to have a higher grit synthetic. A fine stone, but basically just yet another fine finisher

Thanks for the kind words on my humble collection, however I'm so not alone on having a few good ones.
Your Maximized collection are but one
That's the real fun of the SOTD, such incredible collections of beautiful gear all around!!

Bjoernar, I've done the JNat to Escher progression, too. I did it on my Filly EPBD and the edge was just sharp in a strange way. Not harsh at all, but so sharp that if I tripped up in any way, it would give me a super clean slice.

    Amen B.,
How many JNats do you have now? Your collection of stones muct be more impressive than that of your blades by now, LOL.

BTW: my colleague and I will be looking at the edge of a blade (that Rene sent) under SEM today. I decided to do a Naniwa regimen (up to 12k). Yesterday, we looked at the "Shapton edge" and it looked a bit "unclean" (lots of pitting, electron dense areas...I think that's because I asked Rene to send me a crappy blade he didn't care about). Scratch patterns looked bizarre. We'll see what the results say today. I will post pictures in the "Edge" thread I started soon

That's interesting Ehsan. What kind of JNat or Escher (i.e., hard, soft)? What about going from Escher to JNat? I wonder if that would produce a similar edge!

We can call this sport the Hone-Zen (instead of Honzan), LOL. It can be very relaxing.

Just for a change, I shaved with one of mine

William Revitt 4/8; custom best badger by Neo; Mitchell's Wool Fat; Taylor's St. James aftershave.

Today's shave is as English as I could manage, part of a little coordinated shaving exercise organised by Ralfy. The dubious bits are the badger hair and the buffalo horn razor wedge!
