Yes true, not very strong tho. I like it a lot just the way it is, and the lather is great.

Retrieving family razors is a perfectly legitimate thing to do, and what luck they showed up on ebay! I never thought about how they could show up there. I'll go look for some of my family's lost heirlooms myself, in a little while

Post Week of June 19 SOTD - Saturday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 22mm New Forest 2211 Silvertip Badger
Maxterpiece: 7/8" P. Hospital Le Grelot #14, 3/4 Hollow Ground, Round Point (w/Butterscotch Micarta scales)
Strop: 45/65 laps (Neil Miller linen / SRD Premium IV leather)
Überlather: Martin de Candre Savon à raser
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue AS
After Shave Oil: Martin de Candre Copra Oil
Cologne: Martin de Candre "Eau de Lavende" EdT
Results: This shave would certainly qualify as a stupendulicious one. The Le Grelot was rescaled by Max (got it from another member in Hawaii some time ago) and couldn't be happier. She literally shaves like a dream. The MdC shave soap created the central foundation onto which this venue was made possible and enjoyable. The lather and scent were FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC to say the least (but this audience does not need a reminder of how great this soap really is). The MdC "Eau de Lavende" is slowly growing on me and I am reaaaally beginning to like it. My wife fell in love with it the first time whereas me, I am slow (what can I say...story of my life )...I take a little time to warm up to an idea (in this case scent). Now, off to get ready for a busy day ahead...We have family coming over (before my sister and her family go off to Costa Rica for a few weeks on vacation) to enjoy a feast my wife has been cooking up for the past few days.

Prep: 2 mile run, Lukewarm Shower, Baby Oil Gel
Razor: 1960 Gillette Fat Boy (@7) with Personna Blade
    Brush: Omega Boar
    Soap: VDH Deluxe
    AS: Skin Bracer
Finish: Brut Cologne, Firehouse Wacky Tacky Stash Wax

Absolutely nothing fancy about this shave. It had been quite a while since a safety razor touched my face so I was just in the mood to do this today. Three passes rendered a ridiculous CBS shave. This would be a good example of a great combination of elements (none of which are very expensive) thrown together for just a remarkable shave. Very reminiscent of the comfort food my Mom used to cook when I was a kid. Nothing in the pot was very spendy or fancy but put together, that meatloaf, beef stew or whatever would just make you happy it was so good.

    Paddy,
First and foremost: WELCOME TO THE BOARDS. Great having you here and a wonderful first post too.

Second: That is a great looking razor you got there. Pardon me for asking, but was that done by Glen (aka, Gssixgun)? It's got Glen's signature all over it. Congrats on a marvelous addition to what's sure to become (in the near future, if not already) a beautiful collection
