Razor: 7/8" Giesen & Försthoff decorated back, Full Hollow Ground, Spike Point |
Strop: 40/55 laps (Torolf linen / SRD Premium IV leather) |
Überlather: Acca Kappa "1869" Shave Creme + Acca Kappa "1869" Shave Soap + Glycerin |
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol) |
Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer |
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS |
Cologne: Acca Kappa "1869" EdC |
Results: Today was one of those marvelous shaves. I scored this Giesen & Försthoff from Don Adelman some 8 months ago... She is not to be mistaken with those newer, cheesy G&F's that are seen on the bay from time to time. This beautiful vintage takes on (and holds) one of the best edges I have experienced on a razor http://badgerandblade.com/vb/images/...ys/001_wub.gif. With the Acca Kappa über, she delivered one of the closest shaves of my wetshaving lifehttp://www.foroafeitado.com/foro/ima...ies/banana.gif . This will definitely not be forgotten. I literally had to run my hands across my face to be sure that I was not dreaming and the shave actually did happen :hmmm:. ÜberCBS and übersmooth and zero irritation :y. I really love it when things just effortlessly fall into place. |

July 4th -July 10th, A Week of SS Love.
40's style Super Speed/Voskhod Blade/Tabac/Vie Long Horsehair/an assortment of English Leather
Attachment 72809
Day three of the Love Fest continues. The 40 style SS to me, is like the girlfriend that you only visit after a night drinking with the boys. She's there, she's fun, but you definitely don't want to see her everyday. The creamy Tabac helped this old girl deliver a DFS that was just a bit rough around the edges. The vintage English Leather lotion, AS, and cologne made everything better.
Great Shaves today, Gentlemen.

Super Speed Love fest day 4
Super speed Flair tip/Perma Sharp blade/Arko soap/Turkish HH#6/Polar Ice AS/Arko ASB
Attachment 72941
The Love fest continues. The gentle flair tip was just what I desperately needed after yesterdays rough shave. The HH#6 and Arko may be third world products, but they deliver a world class shave. Every aspect of the today's shave including my too thin, but very wet and slick lather was savored and enjoyed. It's a great day to be alive.
Great shaves today, Gentlemen.
Week of July 3 SOTD - Thursday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower |
Brush: 26mm Saville Row SIlvertip Badger |
Razor: 13/16" Takagi Riki "Coral", 3/4 Hollow Ground, Spike Point |
Strop: 40/60 laps (Torolf linen / SRD Premium IV leather) |
Überlather: CarrieM "Black Raspberry Vanilla" Shave Creme + Mama Bear "Myrrh" Shave Soap + Glycerin |
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol) |
Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer |
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS |
Cologne: Acca Kappa "Muschio Blanco" EdC |
Results: This morning, I was in the mood for some delicious Black Raspberry Vanilla and to satisfy the craving, I opted for a combination between the CarrieM BRV and Mama Bear's "Myrrh", which in turn gave rise to a deliciously thick and moist latherhttp://badgerandblade.com/vb/images/...ys/001_wub.gif. Yuuuuuummm!!! Bring it on. It was literally good enough to eat. The Myrrh doesn't have a strong, pungent scent and as such didn't not interfere with the BRV. However, she provided the lather with a rich and thick consistency, features that are the hallmarks of all Mama Bear soaps that I have come to knowhttp://www.foroafeitado.com/foro/ima...ies/banana.gif. The "Coral" is yet another one of my Japanese straights which I have grown to adore. I don't know how they make/forge these razors, but all of the western style Japanese that I own take on a superb edge (not a single dog in the bunch). Standing at a 3/4 hollow, the "Coral" was no exception. With her buttery smooth edge, she delivered a CBS, zero irritation shave:y. I wish everything in life worked as perfectly as this. |
