Nice cold shave Alexander. In hot summer day, it hits the spot. Al's creme and balm are a great choice to start and finish things off too
Craig,
That is a beautiful Dovo buddy...I just wish they came in 7/8+ in size too.
T.,
Kudos for sticking to it...That's exactly where the best parts of learning how to hone come into play. Well done

Hmmmm...One of these days, I will give cold water shave one more try. I did test it once, but preferred warm lather.
I haven't ordered any new cremes from Al recently. The two I have are custom scents he did for me some time ago...I love it
She's gorgeous Monroe. Congrats on a nice acquisition. Same goes for the naniwas. Videos are fine and dandy, but at some point, you just will need to bite the bullet and jump with both feet into the deep end. best way to learn, imo. But remember not to use your good blades learning.
GI,
That English Fern sounds like a fine scent...Sorry to hear that TSD is not welcoming you. Their loss is our gain brother
Amund,
Call me a psychic, but something tells me you really like this razor, LOOOOOL. I don't blame you brother. Well done
CONGRATULATIONS Frank...She's a beauty. Glad your waiting is finally over. Now, you can sleep with her under the pillow, LOOOOL.
Thank you Jamie. I appreciate the kind thoughts (so do my razors, LOL)
Kinda like an International Exchange Program of sorts. I like it
Beautiful shave M...The Ogallala bath soap is really great. Not my wife's favorite though (so we don't use it often). Congrats on that Friodur and brush. They both look marvelous. use them in good health. Looks like you already own some nice razors and are on the prowl for some very sought after ones. I can't wait to see them featured on SOTD soon
King,
I think this is by far my favorite of your TIs...PS: Are you going to get the new TI (Ltd. Ed. Oak Wing "G")?
Sten,
Happy 4th to you as well buddy. And what a way to celebrate it with this TI. Nicely done
LOOOOOOL...Shows you how much I take my gear traveling!!! Thank you
Derek,
First and most importantly, congrats on you and your wife getting some extra sleep today. What a treat. That must feel good indeed
Secondly, I think that all of us here know exactly what you mean...I love those kinds of shaves. They are a testament of a wonderful razor and great prep. Well done. May all your shaves be just as good
Well...Does the missus know of this, LOOOOOL??
Rum,
You've gone all out on this one brother. Beautiful.
Rene,
Question is: are you going to be ready for his next year's party, LOOOL? Congrats on coming out alive from this one. Ohhhh...I miss building and flying remote controlled planes. Ahhh, the good ol' days. beautiful shave and razor too buddy
Sounds like you guys have a good time planned. Have fun
Dominic,
That is a fabulous uber combo...I personally vouch for it. Well done brother. But, wowww, did you sell that blade or what? She looks like a very nice blade. My condolences for parting with her.

Well the wait to heal is killing me so I slept in late today!! I then decided this hand sanding everything sucks so out to the store and home with a new belt/disc sander(the drill press comes in mon morning LOL) I may actually get some scales done now!!!!
Everyones shaves look amazing. My beard is getting thick and it's driving me crazy but I've decided to wait until I can fully shave. Then pull out the heavy wedge and have at it!!!!!! Maybe by tues or wed. SWMBO is out of town right now. Maybe I'll wait till she comes home and let her see why I cant shave yet.....Maybe get somthing as a gift........Hmmmmm There is a new TI and 8/8 Revisor I've been looking at........."We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

Paul,
You're doing the right thing by waiting buddy. You're going to need more than just a wedge to pull a BBS...I think this job will calls for a machete, LOL. Once the WTG is done by it, then, you can resort to normal razor shave, LOL
So, wife was out when you cut yourself (i.e., she hasn't seen the cut yet)? What makes you think she's going to agree with you on getting a Revisor or TI as a gift? For all you know, she may ban you from straight shaving, deeming it hazardous to your health, LOOOOOOOL.
David,
They're making you work on the 4th (and early too)??? That's blasphemy...Your employer should be fined for making you work on this sacred day, LOOOOL (unless of course, you're self employed)
PS: great shave and picture though
Beautiful shave Tom...Looks like a good time was had by you guys at the 4th of July celebration party
Konstantinos,
Congratulations on your successful XTG shave with this rather beautiful frameback. Looks like you're fast becoming and expert straight shaver (and an addict, LOL). Well done brother. I am glad you stuck with it.
PS: I didn't know that Simpson also made custom brushes!!!?? Nice one
Grant,
I love the fact that wetshaving is a family affair in your household. The kids seem to be heavily vested in this tradition. It's lovely. Great shave buddy
Wonderful selection Mikael.
I LOVE it HOG...Nice display. My gear is more "hidden" (display cases in drawers, etc...), but not from my wife. Although, I am thinking about displaying the brushes a bit more openly like you have (but outside the den). Right now, I just take out what I want for the month (usually 4) and store the rest.
Of all the great ones displayed, you focus on that one, LOOL?
Woooahhhh. She's a beauty HOG.
Grant: You have a great eye mate...How the heck did you spot that one out of HOG's fabulous lineup?
And a great setup this is for sure. Well done T.
BTW: I always meant to ask. You have settled on a very interesting choice of username...Are you an editor or publisher? How did you come to settle for "Titivillus" as your username? Assuming of course that this is in reference to the same "Patron demon of scribes" (invented by the scriptorium monks in medieval times).
Jim,
What a beautiful and blissful 4th of July shave. Nicely done. Enjoy your festivities

Week of July 3 SOTD - Monday
Independence Day Shave
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: 24mm Morris & Forndran, 2-band Blonde Badger Maxterpiece: 7/8" Novelty "1879", Full Hollow Ground, Spike Point (Ebony scales + yellow wedge) Honing Regimen: Naniwa 1k, Shapton 1k/2k, Coticule La Grosse Blanche (Dilucot), Nakayama Maruka Kiita/Asagi hybrid JNat w/ slurry (tomonagura). Strop: 5/10 laps (Torolf linen / SRD Premium IV leather) Überlather: Al's Da Bomb "Cloves/Orange/Cinnamon" Shave creme Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol) Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue Aftershave Balm: Al's "Spicy Orange" ASB Results: An early morning shave for me. Today is Independence day and what better way to celebrate it than with one of my Maxterpieces and Al's Shaving creme. So, I took out the Novelty which Max had done in beautiful ebony wood. Even though this blade was honed to satisfaction by yours truly, I wanted to try something a bit novel. I have recently found myself in a love affair with my Kiita/Asagi JNat ...She produces an edge that rivals the best of the best in Japanese stones (I think). Between the bevel setting (with the Naniwa/Shaptons) and the JNat, I inserted a Coticule regimen to cover the middle range of the stones (e.g., ~5k-10k). The edge then visited the Asagi/Kiita Honzan with 3 nagura progressions. And the end result was a super nice, sharp and ultra smooth edge . Al's bomb produced a luxuriously thick and moist lather that I have come to really love and rely on. There's no guessing game with this one...Once you find her sweet spot, it's hard to find anything else that can beat this stuff in performance . The final piece de resistance came from Al's Spicy Orange AS balm. This stuff is like no other...A super moisturizing creme that goes on without irritation. Another great day for sure. BBS and irritation free.
Have a FANTASTIC 4th of July Monday (to those of us that celebrate it) Gentlemen. Be safe and have fun.

Thanks!
Nop. I think if I were an editor or publisher I would hate Titivillus.
I wanted to use another one but it was occupied. Yes I choose this daemon because I think it’s a very interesting character of medieval Christian mythology. BTW I like everything concerning to Middle Ages, codex, miniatures, monks. For me it’s not a dark period. Unknown… may be. However I’m not an expert.
Thanks for your interest!
