Post Week of July 17 SOTD - Sunday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 23mm Thäter Silvertip Badger (Olivewood handle)
Maxterpiece: 15/16" H. Böker #14 "Arbolito", Full Hollow Ground, Spike Point (Black Horn scales)
Honing (refresh) Regimen: 8 soft laps with CrOx Premium IV leather
Strop: 75 laps on Ambrose Horse Hide Clásico leather
Überlather: eShave "Almond" Shave Creme + Mama Bear "Almond" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floid Italian Amber AS
After Shave Balm: eShave "Almond" ASB
    Cologne: Creed "Tabarome" EdT
Results: Today's shave was one of those shaves where everything just simultaneously fell into place. If I were to deliberately plan it just as it was, it probably wouldn't have turned out as perfect. The Arbolito is one of my most cherished razors with one of the smoothest edges I have come to know and experience on a straight . I didn't know what to expect, but when I decided to take her to the CrOx/leather, I was pleasantly surprised to find significant improvement on an already fabulous edge. Gentlemen; consider the bar officially raised !! I am LOVING this "CrOx on leather" refreshment regime. It really does work wonders...well, at least on 2 razors, so we can't really make any definitive conclusions yet. The eShave/Mama Bear "Almond" combination is a potent concoction with inherent "mystical" powers. As the lather was forming, the den was slowly being enveloped with the intoxicating scent of this potion, transforming the atmosphere into the perfect "Zen Zone" . By the time this shave was over, my face was not only BBS, but also über-smooth with absolutely zero sign of irritation anywhere. It's as if it was a dream...Or was it ?

    Have an AMAZING Sunday guys.

    Cheers,
    Robert

    Jamie,
Every one should have a benchmark shave against which to judge all other shaves. But one must keep in mind that this benchmark is fluid/dynamic and ever evolving. Great job buddy

    Razor:F.W. Engels Special
    Pre-shave:Noxzema
    Brush:Rooney pure badger
    Cream:Godrej
    AS:Thayers Lavender and Avon Spicy
Result:Yet another new cream for me. Great lather full of cushion and glide, wonderful old school barbershop scent and lanolin to leave the skin feeling like a million bucks. The Engels never leaves me with anything less than BBS. Need to run back to the antique store to get some more of this vintage Avon AS as I'm getting towards the bottom of this bottle. Great shaves everyone and have an awesome week.

    Robert,
Thank you The fougere is lovely. I make my own aftershaves, it's been years since I used a store bought one. This fougere is a blend of tonka, oakmoss and vetiver base, lavender, amyris and rose middle, and bergamot, tangerine and ylang ylang top. I am loving it. Since the fougeres is such a large and diverse group of male fragrances, I also have other varieties in developemt. A spicy one, with black pepper and cardamom, a woody one with rosewoods, myrrh and amyris, and and.. heh, I better stop - we're getting off course here

Scuttle: Dirty Bird 1.5 filled with cold water (It's already 33c here this morning!)
    Lather: Nancy Boy.
Brush: eShave Long-Handle Silvertip Shaving Brush.
Razor: Dubl Duck "GoldEdge" 5/8 round tip.
    After: Floid Amber.

I acquired this razor froom our very own dllandry at the GTA meet this spring. First time I've had the pleasure of shaving with it - fantastic. He says he only takes it to the 8k. I was expecting a rougher shave, but it was smooth against my face...only needed two passes for my closest shave in months. Well done dllandry, well done! I love it!

    T.,
The Godrej is a fabulous creme indeed. For such a cheap creme, it certainly performs like a million bucks. Great choice. Love your Engels too

You are quite the artisan soap maker Jim. The benefit is you can put in what you like (no junk)
