It sure can, sir! It's marketed as "ideal after shaving". It goes really well on top of an [alcoholic] aftershave, but my face can't take alcohol at all, so I tend to stick to balms and use this moisturiser at night time on a shave day.

Lovely razor Jamie, who's honed your blades, your Kropp should be a top notch shaver too. It may be just that its a 4/8 blade, when I started out I found it easier somehow to get the right blade angle with a smaller blade, and that goes a long way towards the feel of sharp!

Hi Nic I restored and honed this one myself, still I feel it could be a little sharper.

    Regards Jamie.

Good afternoon Gentlemen. It's a rainy friday in Oslo today.

    Shave prep: Face wash
    Brush: Fonex boar brush
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Razor: John Barber, 5/8 wedge
    Strop: nun2sharp's hanging leather strop
    After Shave Splash: Fougere blend
Notes: What a treat to be able to shave with this old gal. Took some honing to get a good bevel but less than I feared, from what it looked like when she arrived at my door. I decided I need to rescale her in horn but I had to order some, so she is currently back in the ugly plastic scales she arrived in. If I remember, I'll post unaltered pics in the show and tell when she is more presentable. Oh, the shave, I nearly forgot: It was royal

I had this cream and agree with Rum's' comments. It is a nice balm/cream, it comes in a 50ml plastic dispenser bottle, with fairly thick texture. It is a very handy 24hr moisturizer, actually. I had one nearly finished but did not replace it (not because it is not nice but because I wanted to try other products!)

Thank you Nic, it shaves very nice as well. Somehow at this stage I am very fond of Swedish steel blades, however I also need to try more Sheffield ones.

    Default Brothers!

Brothers are great! I am blessed to have four brothers and no sisters...(my poor mom). I get along with all of them and we have alot of fun.

Got another "brother" for my razor collection yesterday. Beau Brummel #18, 11/16" Square Point. What a beaut! Polished it up and honed it a bit and todays shave with the Proraso was Cool and sweet.

Prep: Hot Shower Proraso pre/post creme
Razor: Beau Brummel #18, Square Point 11/16"
    Brush: AOS Best Badger
Post: Proraso ASB, AOS ASB, Proraso post shave.

    Result: SSS (Silky Sticky Smooth!)

Prep: Hot Water Wash, Baby Oil Gel
Razor: Lecran Cutlery Extra Hollow Ground
    Brush: Omega Boar
AS: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Nivea ASB
    Finish: Pierre Cardin

This shave was just OK. Despite 200 laps on the strop last night, the edge on this razor is still just a tad muddy. The razor is plenty sharp and doesn't really have a noticeable pull, but it just isn't as crisp as I like. Oh well, I'll take it to the stones tonight and try it out again tomorrow.

    Premiere

    • Myrurgia (old Spanish shaving soap)
    • Simpson Chubby 2 Super Badger
    • Guillermo Hoppe #14 7/8"
    • ASS Floïd

First shave with this Guillermo Hoppe. Really sweet shave.

Some people say, and it is believed, that J.A. Henckels/Zwilling started to produce good straight razors after buying this firm (Wilhelm Hoppe and Co.).

    Enjoy this Friday!

    Friday 8/5/11

    Shumate 5/8
    E.Jagger BBB
    LaToja sc
    Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
Lucky Tiger a/s and Face Tonic
    Anherb a/s gel
    Trumper's Spanish Leather Cologne

The LaToja provides a terrific lather with great cushioning and lubrication for the Shumate. I'm beginning to think that U.S. steel works best for me. The Spanish Leather is a nice change of pace from my recent foray into the Pino Silvestre and always pleases me. And today will be better than yesterday.
