Mike I do believe you are a kid in a candy shop!!! Love it!!! It's nice when SWMBO is a part of the fun isn't it? Mine asked me to find a good old DE for her to start using!!! Yay!!!! Love seeing all the fun you're having with the B-day gifts.

Thanked: 17August 8st SOTD no picture
Prep: hot towel
Brush: Rooney Silvertip
Soap: Fitjar Såpekokeri Lighthouse Bay rum
Razor: Dovo C-Mon Blackie
Post: Witch Hazel, aloe vera, pint of home brew rye pilsner
Opted for an evening shave, sans shower, a hot towel over lather had to suffice for prep.
Decent shave not the best, the stars just weren’t aligned I guess. Shaving over the weekends gasket rash from paddling hurts like hell, I doubt I will do that again.
Have a good evening

Thanks Str8!! Indeed, when the wife is involved, it is all the more fun!!! And, ya, I'm having a blast with all my new b-day presents. This birthday was one where I actually got stuff I wanted and would use. No socks or ties, hehehe.. I still have a few more to get too, but I'm working my way through them!! It's a new adventure every night. It's great!! A kid in a candy store couldn't have this much fun!!
Happy shaves!!
M-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

A two pass shave, with minor touch up, yesterday was my dogs birthday aged 14, I went to Tesco and purchased him a lovely steak, flash cooked it on the griddle pan, boy did he enjoy that, so I dedicate this shave to my dog, to Blue the Fox Terrier

Tuesday 9th:
C.V. Heljestrand Mk. No. 30
Neil Miller genuine linen / English bridle strops (30/50)
Omega Professional No. 98
SWK XL scuttle
Institut Karité Paris soap
Figaro after shave
La Toja after shave balm
Guerlain Vetiver Eau de Toilette
Felt my stubble was good enough to give it a good shave this am and not wait till tomorrow morning, so I decided to add a new razor in the rotation, grabbed the Helje and off I went. Nice little shaver, highly sought after from what I understand, first shave with it for me.
Stropped 30/50 as I thought the blade would be tack sharp; this one had reportedly been restored and honed by Neil Miller. However it seems the previous owner must have shaved with it a few times, the blade is currently no way as sharp as any of the blades Neil normally hones. A nice shave nonetheless, perfect for today's task.
The French soap did not impress today, should have used just a bit less water in the mix. This is the issue when you rotate daily; you pick up a soap and last time you shaved with it was (say) few months back, so you need to find its sweet spot again.
The La Toja balm is one of my favorites, leaves my skin always silky smooth.
The efficacy and scent of the Figaro start to grow with me; nothing better than a fresh reminder of Budapest and some nice moments I had there few years back (there were also some very 'spicy' as well as bad moments during that time there but let us just not get into that or else the thread will get really hot...)
Michael, I'm happy you are doing well, it is so nice to hear someone who had not felt good for many many years is now enjoying life as most of us do. There's nothing more important than good health, and only if one goes through the hardship of having difficulty doing even the most trivial tasks over a prolonged period of time then the essentials can truly be appreciated. Beauty can be found everywhere, in the simplest of tasks, whether that is drinking water from a fountain, taking a slow walk or interacting with others.Last edited by NavalArchitect; 08-09-2011 at 09:37 AM.
