Nice shave today. My thoughts and prayers are with those thet perished in the storm and the folks whose homes were damaged/destroyed on the east coast. Also to those that are in proximity to the rivers in NJ that are overflowing their banks and are still in imminent danger.

Default Shaving by Candlelight and Cold Water

I just want to say thank to the entire site for learning how to shave in not so comfortable conditions. I live in Northern NJ and just went through hurricane Irene. Lost power for awhile and the basement was completely flooded. Lost almost everything downstairs, except the shaving gear!

Finally got the chance to shave but using a candle and cold water. I've been shaving in cold water for about a year so that was no problem so it sure came in handy knowing how to do that. We have to boil water right now. A little strange using candle light actually kind of eerie. I was expecting Anthony Perkins to attack me from behind, the Psycho movie star, but it was an interesting challenge.

Prep: Any Soap and cold water
    Cream: Proraso
    Razor: Thiers-Issard 6/8 Grelot
    Brush: Badger Brush Silver-Tipped
Strop: Illinois Russian Leather and Linen
    Aftershave: Nivea non-alcohol cream

A good shave surprising goes a long way to help cope with the day. Thanks again guys.

    Nic,
Fabulous combination of hard- and software. It's like the JE and Tabac were made for one another.

Hope the day wasn't too exhausting Monroe. At least, this shave must have made it more tolerable.

    Another Great Shave
What a great cast EA...Love the Eaton College scent. I've been toying around with the idea of getting the AS and EdC line

    Zorro,
Welcome to the SOTD brotherhood buddy...I am sorry that it was under less than ideal circumstances though. But, we're all here for you. Glad you are OK though. Look at the positive side of things...The water will retract back and things will slowly get back to normal for you. Your shave today was truly vintage, old style, with candles and all. Outstanding & well done.
