Thanks for the comment. I love the traditions too, I am very sad because this traditional sport has not kept the boatbuilding. There was 2 boatbuilders only: my uncle ( and his 2 sons) and Mr. Ikazeta, who made the wooden boats, and a person who made the rows in wood too. Today those persons are retired and their talent, knowledge and experience are lost for the future.
I liked the wooden boats because you can enjoy them with a lot of senses, they are not only good looking and elegant,....and smooth to feel with the hands....the sound that makes the row in the trainera, when it's wood, it's completly different to the plast..sorry...carbon fiber....the sound of the wooden row and trainera is hypnotic, nice and relaxing.....
I miss the wood in this sport, some years ago I found the last winner boat made in my uncle's (his son was the skipper, and they win a lot of races with it) the last day before it was milled....Sad moment for me, I have cried, sung, shout to support this boat so many times....

Mikael,
I can't help but think that that second cup of espresso in your SOTD post is being brewed for me."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain
