Our guests from Lynchburg, VA also visited Glauchau's firefighter.
They got some stuff from the Forest Vol. Fire Dept.
Bedford County, VA.
Bob likes the new Magirus-machine, but it is to much for the luggage.

09-28-2011, 03:57 PM #223Razor:Harrison Bros. & Howson regrind
Brush:Rooney Pure Badger
Cream:Godrej
AS:Thayers Lavender and Brut Attitude
Result:This razor has been in my "Don't even bother" pile for quite some time.Bought it off of the bay even though it had fuzzy, misleading pictures. It was ground down from probably a 5/8 to a 3/8 and the scales were busted in four pieces.Out of boredom, while my internet was down, I decided to play around with fixing the scales with acetone. This was my first attempt acetone welding anything so it is not the prettiest job.The main thing is that they are now functional again.Put the blade back in and surprisingly it honed up very well.Gave it a go today and was treated to quite a wonderful shave, as any Sheffield would give.Between the fact that it is so small and that it is a wedge, I didn't feel it shaving any hair off at all.Three passes and I'm as smooth as the day I was born.

Week of September 25 SOTD - Wednesday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: 25mm Custom Shavemac D01 Silvertip Badger w/ Bruyère Wood Handle Maxterpiece: 6/8" Wade & Butcher "Bow" Torchmark, 1/2 Hollow Ground (very loose grind), Spike Point (w/ Carbon Fiber scales + Yellow G10 wedge) Honing Regimen: Shapton Pros 1k, 2k, 5k, 10k + Y/G Escher w/ moderate slurry w/ dilution + 3 (light pressure) laps on CrOx on Bridle IV (sanded) leather strop. Strop: 0/45 (Ambrose Horse Hide Clásico leather) Überlather: Floris "JF" Shave Creme + Floris "JF" Shave Soap + Glycerin Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol) After Shave Balm: RazoRock AS Wax Cologne: Creed "Green Irish Tweed" EdT Results: This Bow was a gamble on the bay with literally no time to run a reality check with my trusted adviser Max. As it turned out, her tang was suffering from the worst kind of tarnish called the "Devil's Spit" and the scales were pretty much shot ...But for $20, I wasn't going to lose sleep over it. I sent it to Max to see if she could be salvaged in any way and if not, I would turn it into a project of sorts. Max cleaned her up as best as he could without losing too much steel and put her in some left over carbon fiber scales he had laying around the shop. The result is what you see here. Max did a marvelous job in preserving and revealing her true inner character; she's not only gorgeous but also holds her own against the best of my collection. She has one of the loosest grind 1/2 hollows I have ever encountered (My other Bow is a much stiffer 1/4 grind). Another interesting feature of this beauty is that she absolutely loves to sing. Honing her was almost a 'religious" experience . She took on an extremely keen edge and that's just after the Shapton 1k. Finishing her on the Escher + CrOx (which I am slowly growing fond of ), I felt that she was truly going to be special. Blemish or not, this was one of the best and "luckiest" $20 I ever spent on a blade . As far as software, I opted for the Floris, which is amongst my top 7 soaps/cremes. Abundant lather with excellent glide and cushion. Prepping the whiskers was a delight. My first date with this beauty (Shhhh!! don't tell my wife ) was an intimidating one. I carefully maneuvered the Bow around my face, taking special care not to use any pressure (or excessive angles) whatsoever along the way. This edge was not to be taken lightly and frankly commanded respect. One wrong move and she will not be forgiving. Any cut was bound to be a deep one. At the end, we both learned a little about one another and this first date ended on a very happy note. We will certainly rendezvous again.
Have a TERRIFIC Wednesday gentlemen .

My favourite shave, if I only could choose one well this would be the set up hardware plus the scent, lovely two pass shave, the Feather never fails to impress, silky smooth razor and blade, just pulled the trigger on a Feather Artist club SS in lime green can't wait to give it a go.

Another go with the Frank Revitt today. It just wouldn't behave on the coti, so I gave it my standard Shapton progression up to 16k and a few laps CroX on a hanging strop.
Bam, smooth and sharp and a joy to shave with!
