Great shave! I'm starting to believe that like the Ginsu knife, I could saw a 10 penny nail in half with this razor and it would still be scary sharp.

Tell me about it. Grant writing is always a chore, especially if its for mucho bucks. The red tape at both ends--institutional and the government--can choke the living daylights out of a researcher.

Hang in there buddy. The deadline for submitting that grant will be over in a few weeks.

Then you can relax, kick back and rejoin the SOTD Brotherhood in full force.

Result: Today was my first time wearing the bow tie to work (Thanks Bill for the inspiration). It received rave reviews and I found it a very nice look. This morning's shave was very nice. I've been working on the edge on this TI for a few days. I've been trying small changes here and there to try and squeeze as much sharpness, smoothness, & learning out as I can. I love that aspect of honing, there always seems to be more to pursue. Thank you Gentlemen!

Another day off work, organised to take my grandson to the hospital for his fortnightly Chemotherapy review, but unfortunately a temperature spike and constant nose bleeds meant he went yesterday. As I’d organised for the day off anyway I decided to tackle mowing the ‘lawn’, which in parts is six feet high of Barley grass. After three hours’ work it looked much better, however my face and body were covered by annoying itchy spots.

I decided to use the Mühle R 89 (even though it’s not Saturday). After the three pass shave (it’s hard not to just keep on shaving forever with this razor) my face felt hot and sore (legacy of the obvious reaction to the Barley grass). So I followed the shave with cold water (which I normally never do after a shave; normally I rinse with warm water) Witch Hazel AND Proraso Liquid Cream After Shave AND Proraso Pre/Post Shave cream.

I did a bit of bowl lathering and a lot of face lathering after reading Obie’s post on face lathering elsewhere on the forum. Obie really is a fount of knowledge on soaps (and other things) isn’t he?
