First a foremost a big thank you for the welcoming party and birthday wishes on Saturday. There's no place like home and I consider the SOTD part of my home. For my birthday shave I decided on a Wade & Butcher. Time to give my SRP 2011 LE Brush some deserved rest so the Simpson PJ3 was due for some lathering action with the mouthwatering, divine smelling sandalwood/rose cream which was a nice birthday surprise from my friend Bill. Needless to say, tons of lather and a superb shave. I took my sweet time to enjoy every single minute spend in the bathroom. The B&B Cologne was the icing on the cake. Think fruity sandalwood.
Gents, let's get this show on the road! happy shaving.

About a year or so ago I went on a barber hone kick and bought 4 of them, but really haven't gotten to know them.
So I decided to use the Chipaway hone to touch-up my Grandfathers Long Life.
6 laps with lather gave me a very decent edge. I can get better with my Coti/Thuri touch-up routine, but if I had to I could quite happily use this stone to maintain edges.
2 passes gave me a DFS and a great start to the SOTD week.

    Sunday

Spent the morning helping my 85 year old father take some rubbish to the dump. A very interesting time guiding him reversing the trailer. In the end I unhitched it and just pushed it where it needed to be. People are generally very understanding of old gentlemen attempting to manoeuvre their increasing bizarre looking aging automobiles precariously around the streets like they are mammoth articulated behemoths, but there’s a limit. A visit to my parents generally consists of feeding the sparrows and magpies on the front veranda, chain smoking and being force fed omelettes, sausages, mashed potatoes and weak tea.

The shave with the Törnblom was extremely smooth. And really very close. I do believe it’s improved since the JaNorton Project. It’s really feeling very nice at the moment. That didn’t stop me from giving it a 10 laps on the 8K though, and also a good clean out of the pivot, which had a tiny spot of rust in it. Gotta be pretty vigilant about that rust, don’t you? I always wipe my razors with Eucalyptus oil after each shave (and strop 10/10), but I may need to place a drop into the pivot each week or so.

I've been looking at my vintage German medium format cameras and a 'seeing' a few things lately and thinking about getting back in to it. Might buy some film...

Hope you’re all having a relaxing, happy Sunday. Be good, be healthy and be happy...

The Maxtom did such a wonderful job yesterday that I needed only a single pass with the DE for a DFS. I'm off to play Soldier again today...
