Awesome stuff today, Gentlemen! Truly spectacular!
I built this razor some time back using parts from several broken ones. I call it "the Junkyard Dawg" It was a pain to hone, a hard wedge, and never was quite satisfactory. I relegated it to my display case until last week. Being a new year, I put that much-maligned 2nd layer of tape on the spine and BINGO! Shaves awesome! Luke the Wonder Dog supervised a fine shave.
Have an extra nice and productive week, Men! Tom"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 1185Prep: Haircut, Dome Shave, Hot Shower, Baby Oil Gel
Razor: C.V. Heljestrand Mk4
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
AS: Cold Water Wash, Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Finish: English Leather Cologne
Great Sunday morning in the shave cave. After clippering down the dome stubble I decided to lather down with MWF and have a straight razor dome shave. I haven't done enough of these for it to feel comfortable so it was kind of awkward and ungamely (not unlike my first couple straight razor shaves on my face.) I did manage to make the dome CBS with no loss of blood at all. I then cleaned my mess jumped in the shower and transitioned to the face shave. The edge on this razor is amazing and after two passes there was nothing much left but I did a third touch up pass with a hot water splash and baby oil gel only. As always, the smell of English Leather brought back thoughts of my Dad. He was quite a man and probably the smartest human being I've ever had the privelege to know.
Afterwards I took my granddaughter to the park to ride her new tricycle. Seems like just a few months ago that her mother looked just like her. She's a beautiful and funny little girl. I'm not sure who has more fun when she visits her or Grandma and Grandpa.
And now, the glam shot, she did the lipstick herself.
The older I get, the better I was

Today was test shave day. One is sold. The faux frame back and the other 2 were for a coti tes. Very surprised with the coti's. The dound on the stones sounded course but the shave was very smooth. I know i have learning to do with them. Awesome start to the week.

Razor: W&B 7/8 Barber's Use in Bocote scales - restored by yours truly Brush: Semogue Owner's Club Premium Boar Hone: Norton 1k Bevel, Coticule "Dilucot" up to finish Strop: SRD Latigo 50/50, episaacs 'roo 50 Lather: DR Harris Marlborough Soap Scuttle: Robert Becker #9 AS: DR Harris Marlborough ASB: Trumper's Unscented Cologne: DR Harris Marlborough Comments: Wow, it feels good to shave with a razor that started with a huge frown and ended up as my first ever full restore, as well as my first time honing on a coticule. I posted some photos here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...h-restore.html. The smoothness was pretty close to perfect, though I think I might go back for another 10-15 passes on the coti with just water. I spent a couple of hours afternoon honing 4 razors and it was a lot of fun. I'll update The Noob Chronicle in a while. Have a great week, my SOTD Brothers!

Finally getting round to posting my morning shave. I was in a hurry and still somewhat sleepy, so I opted for the Futur rather than reaching for a straight. My reward? A BBS shave that was s close that now, 15 hours after the shave, I still have very little stubble on my face!
