    Default 7/8 Satinedge report!

    How do I start...

    3 days' growth
    Shower
    conditioner
    Proraso brush
    L'O CADE soap
    7/8 Satinedge spike
    ice cube
    L'O CADE AS Balm

To start with, lather did not come as well as I usually get it. This is because I started lathering on the face, and I now think the Proraso boar brush does not hold water as well as my silvertips. I took out the bowl, but the start was already bad.

The 7/8 Satinedge. Don't know about the Feather, but this thing seemed unforgiving sharp, indeed, and I have used 2 other razors by Joe Chandler, as well as one from Bill and PappaBull.

This was my longest shave of late, and I was just FORCED to take my time. More nicks that I care to admit (but I'll say it - 5!) Nothing that cold water didn't fix, most were really really just small. No cuts, luckily.

This razor sings so much, it flexes and stalls at times in my growth. I think most of the stalling was due to bad angles, btw. Smoothest shave with a straight ever, and except the nicks, no abrazions from blade. However, it took me so long I think my skin developed little red spots from the soap (my skin is sensitive, and I took much more than I usually take later) Interestingly, I had the nicks on cheecks, where I usually have no problems at all. Also, I had GREAT results on my neck, where I usually get some abrasions and nicks due to the difficulty dealing with growth in every direction and general facial relief there. I haven't done my neck with a straight closer or better EVER.

Several hours later I am still quite smooth and skin looks fab, not really any traces of nicks or red spots.

Conclusion: I don't know what to think or do yet. I thought this razor had to beat my best Puma to stay. Wel, it did - on the most difficult areas to shave. But, boy, was it a long and engaging shave! Stalling - again, I think angles should fix this... And it will get a bit duller with use...

I think I'll keep it for now and see how I progress with it. Unquestionably a great, sharp shaver, maybe too great for me (right now). But it fits my hand so well, I don't want to let it go.

Today was Taylor-day. I would not have shaved yesterday had I know I was going to get my hair cut (as I like a very clean shave on those occasions), but the shave turned out just fine. I added an extra pass, where I used hair conditioner instead of the usual lather (today was C&E Sweet Almond Oil cream). The shave was very clean and smooth with 0 nicks (which is becoming a regular occurence). Since I did 4 passes, I took a safety measure and used an almond-based diaper rash cream after using the DBR.

    1. Hot shower
    2. 7 days growth (don't ask)
    3. BK 8 brush
    4. Trumpers violet shaving cream sample (I liked the cream)
    5. 9/8 Marsh Bros Wedge
    6. Multipass shave (5 passes) and now I cant tell my face ever grew hair, I would have to say it was better than my best DE shave, which is probably a first. I did more skin stretching on this shave than I can ever remember, which definitely helped.
    7. Alumblock (which I REALLY enjoyed)
    8. Trumpers Violet aftershave (not at all impressed)
    9. Coral Skin Food
    10. Royall Muske Cologne
