I’ve been trying to get my new De Pews honed all this week. I finally have it to the stage that is gives a passable shave, but there’s still a way to go. I actually shaved my goatee off with it tonight after another two hours on the hones. I had an offer to send it away to get the bevel set, but I actually think I MAY be able to get a good edge on it myself. I admit shamefully that I used 1200 wet and dry wrapped around a hone to set the bevel. It still has a second bevel, probably from the spine wear; and now I’m using tape. I think when I get this shaving really nicely (which I will) it’ll be a really fine razor. I’m going to use NO other razor until this is perfect, so I apologise in advance for what will be a boring trotting out of photos of the same razor for maybe a couple of weeks…

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

A while back i sent Bill some razors so he can get familiar with his ne hones. Last week he sent them back. Inside there was a razor i didnt remember buying. Its possible. LOL! But i did remember Bill getting one like this. He confirmed it was a mistake and that he never finished setting the bevel. So i offered. I worked on 3 razors last night. This being one of them. Ran her with Naniwas 3,5,8,12 then Thuri then CF. She delieverd a very close shave but not the smoothness i was looking for . I was really tired. I was finishing this up around midnight. So im going to rehone it tonight. Not to mention this steel it really hard.
Great post guys.
