Razor: 9/16 Salamandar fresh off the hones
Brush: 24mm Silvertip
Soap: Cella
As: Osage Rub
Edt: Navy
I tried very hard on the CNat this afternoon to see if I couldn't get the edge just a shade closer to Rene's. I did around 240 circles and 300 X's on my CNat on clear water, then 10 laps on the CrOx paddle and 100/200 Clean Felt and Leather.
It was the smoothest razor I have ever honed. Almost to Rene's standards, but just barely. For me, or I should say for one of my edges, it was pretty darn buttery feeling. I think I'm getting the hang of my CNat, at least for this razor.
Happy Shaving all!!
M-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

I've been under the weather recently. The whole house has. The four year old suffers the most. Still, I have to clean up to attend a lecture last night. A hot bath, I grabbed my shaving brush, bowl and moustache wax and dropped them right in the water to soak with me by the candle's light. I've half a mind to install a mirror there so I can shave in the bath. Oh well, grooming had to happen at the sink. I still felt 100% better going into that shave. I felt better still coming out of it. Might be old fashioned of me but I like taking my time and attending to the process.

Thanked: 485Friday (or) I’m Going to Get a Shaving Rash (or) FFS (or) I should Have Bought a Revisor
I’ve been trying to get my new De Pews honed all this week. I finally have it to the stage that is gives a passable shave, but there’s still a way to go.
Yes, you’re right. That was the opening lines of last night’s post…
Another, what, 5 hours of honing? And it’s now getting pretty good. Not excellent, but pretty good.
My wife and son are starting to think I’m mad (er).
“Dad” he says “Not AGAINNNNN, FFS!” (but expanding out the acronym fully, and with a vehemence I find a little astonishing).
The wife says “He wasn’t happy with this morning’s shave, Joel” as if it is akin to saying his cornflakes were a little soggy. Doesn’t she GET it?
I reply (a little prima donna-ish) “but my public want to know how it’s GOING!!”
Thanks to ominaru55 (Oz) who told me about the heel problem. Maybe I shouldn’t divulge that I used the lapping stone to take the heel off? Did I just say that? Anyway, it’s now shaving quite nicely, although it IS hard to really tell, as I’ve just had my fourth shave for the day. Test shave after test shave after test shave. It's all just one big test shave. Next thing you know I’ll have a Brazilian; I’m running out of things to test shave. Can men have a Brazilian?
It appears the spine it out of whack (or maybe it's warped as I just read). I have to rock the blade back and forward (but only on one side) for all the edge to actually touch the hone. I figure because not ALL the edge makes contact on each pass due to needing to do this rocking motion, I have to triple the number of passes on that particular side. This razor is a BASTARD to hone, quite frankly. And I’m just a new fellow to all this. I really want to do this one myself, but if it doesn’t start behaving very soon it’s taking a trip to Sydney or even Canada….
Problem is, it's somehow taking on the persona of a prodigal son...
Razor: De Pews Pre Shave: Proraso Shave Cream O Melhor + Faulding’s ‘Shave’ + C O Bigalow and a few others over the course of the day, I forget After Shave: Clubman + Proraso Liquid Cream after Shave and a few others

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
