TI | Thäter 2011 LE Bulb | QCS Vetiver | Thayers Lavender | Sabon ASB | Dior Leather Oud

I honed this up for a newbie who was having some problems. Today was my test shave. The edge came out very nice and smooth! This was also a test for me of the QCS Vetiver. The scent on this reminds me very much of the Salter Vetiver SC. Sadly, despite all the praise I read about the QCS products, my lather was a bit lacking. I guess it really is true that YMMV. Despite the thin lather, I managed to get a BBS shave in two passes with touch ups. Afterwards, my face felt a bit dry, but the Sabon added plenty of moisture. And the Leather Oud is an intoxicating scent! Overall, I'm ready to tackle a new work week.

I am new to straights, but before with my DE, and even before that with my Mach 3, I would use Proraso Pre/Post both before and after. Great cooling effect that lasts even after a splash of AS. I use a very thin coat after my cold water splash and let it sink in a couple of minutes before the AS. Not sticky, just right. Great stuff!

    Tonight's routine:
    Hot Shower
    Proraso Pre/Post
    Vulfix 2234
    Speick Stick - face lather
    Dovo Special 6/8 - WTG/XTG
    Proraso Pre/Post
    Floid Amber AS

    Great Shave, good times!

I lost my Dad yesterday after a long and painful battle with M.S..He is now out of pain and with my mother again. To take my focus off things ,if only for a bit I grabbed a Temperite that I had never honed and took it to the stones. With my dad (who did not use a straight but was proud that I had taken to it) looking over my shoulder I attained the velvet squeegee edge that some of us have experienced. This was the most satisfying moment in my straight razor history and it resulted in a Kick ass BBS smooth shave! I wont be shaving again till the funeral and I think I wil use the same razor. And so gentelmen I give you the the Jeffrey Jones memorial Hone & shave...
