Thanked: 1185Prep: Hot Water Wash, Touch Up Hone
Razor: T. Noonan and Sons Arabic
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Arko Shavestick
AS: Skin Bracer
Finish: Clubman Bay Rum
Results: I think at long last I've gotten the edge on this razor at least to a point where it will give good shaves. This is one of those razors that will give every indication that it's scary sharp until it's used on the face. Last weekend's shave with this razor absolutely sucked and I had to bring in a relief pitcher. I took it back to the rock and tried again yesterday. For various reasons this shave was (to put it kindly) just barely OK. By about 2 PM I had 5 o'clock shadow so I suspect that the edge on the razor was certainly an issue. Again I touched it up and gave it a good stropping before this morning's shave. BINGO! Two passes not quite BBS but pretty darned close.

New stuff day! SRD delivery last night. Since the wife is out at a baseball game with some friends, I took advantage of a wonderful Saturday to myself.
Prep: Insanity Day 6 (week 1 in the books!) + Hot Shower Razor: Dovo Renaissance SS Strop: SRD 3" premium fabric x50, red latigo x 100 Lather: RazoRock XXX in SRD bulldog Brush: Thater 2 band Post: Shavex Alum + Pinuad Result: BBS!
This Razorock XXX is amazing, and a steal at the price. If I had the space, I would order 100 of them. The Pinuad was a first for me as well, and I love it. A bit of a nick on the chin, but that didn't even bother me with how fantastic the shave was overall. Now to relax with a Crown and Coke, watch some baseball, and enjoy the afternoon
Cheers until next week, gentlemen.

Thanked: 884Messed around and honed up some razors. Planned on doing 5. Ended up getting two done. Back to the drawing board on the other three. Edges have some serious issues. Oh well.
Got a good scald on this on war horse.
Appears to be a reground W&B. 7/8 pretty much full hollow. Blade is stiff and not like the later full hollows. Honed up easy.
Set bevel with 1K Chosera, then 5K and 8K Naniwa.
Finished with a old A. B. Salmen coti with very light slurry and then water. Stropped on an ugly old Riordan horse hide strop.
Worked out nicely.
Soap; VDH
Brush; VDH El Cheapo Supremo
Washed my ugly mug, lathered same, and went for it.

Thanked: 485That's funny; I had steak and fried potatoes too, except I had a nice big Porterhouse and I cut my potatoes REALLY thinly; like potato chips and fried them in olive oil in a cast iron frying pan... I also took some bread, cut off the crusts, fried it in the rest of the olive oil after frying the steak, and then spread it with mustard... :-)
