Novelty Cutlery Co. 7/8-Rooney Pure Badger-RazoRock Zi' Peppino-Thayers Lavender-Clubman Original AS
Today was honestly one of the best shavethat I've had in a while. I just got the Razorock in yesterday and I'm very impressed. It exploded into a thick lather with very little effort. The scent was subtle, but wonderful. Add to this the combo of American steel finished on a translucent Arkie and the four day growth just fell off of my face. Finished with the Clubman and had no burn at all(even though it usually burns even when I don't shave ) Have a great day!

Today's shave was a fun one! I got to try out two new peices of shaving equipment! Yay!
I recieved my first Gillette Red Tip, which is in pretty good condition, although I noticed last night that the safety bars were bent on one end of the head. I am not sure when this happened but, it very well could have been during shipping as the seller only sent it in a bubble wrap bag, with a little more BW wrapped around the razor itself. I did manage to straighten out the bars with a srewdriver though. Yesterday was actually the first time I shaved with it, and I was like "wow you can really feel that balde", but now I realize that was mostly due to the bent guard bars.
The second item is a nice badger brush from Kingsley, that I bought at a local shop. I really like it, it has a nice weight to it, the handle is in a shape that feels ok in the hand and it has a huge tuft of hair. My only complaint so far is that the hair smells. Which I am hoping will fade with time. It seems like it is a higher grade of badger hair and constructed well, so for $42.95 I feel like that is a pretty good price. Although I suppose I could expect a few imperfections. So far I am pretty happy, we will see how it fairs after more shaves.
The Shave
Pre: Hot Shower
Razor: B2 Red Tip w/ Personna
Brush: Kingsley Badger
Bowl: Vintage Stoneware
Soap: L'Occitane "Cade" (the last of my sample)
Post: L'Occitane ASB (another sample, so far I like it alot. I also forgot to use the Thayer's)
It was a nice shave. I enjoyed the Cade, it lathers really well and makes my skin feel good. Although I am kinda neutral on the scent, I don't love it but I definitely don't hate it. I don't know, I guess I "like" it. Although, sometimes it is a little harsh on my skin, and that is probably the only reason that would keep me from buying it. For $28 its gotta be really good for me to spend my money on it. I do like the ASB though.

Thanked: 1185Oddly enough, the Boker Red Injun 102 from my SOTD today, was the first straight I ever honed (or owned for that matter.) From that day to this, it holds an edge like a champ and when the edge does get muddy, it never seems to take long to get it totally back into the ball game.

This mornings shave
Tally Ho-TOBS Rose/RR Cacao/Nivea ASB-Kouros Cologne
Not a bad 3 pass shave. Ok but not great. Might need a few laps on the 16K-CrOx but I'll wait till the next go around to verify. Great lather as whats not to like with rose and almond chocolate???

DECORATION: * Chinese Golden Toad Tea Tray Display Ornament/Mascot
My son and his family came back from Nepal yesterday. I am very happy, although they could not start a new life there, but at least they are at home again. Thank you for the many prayers my dear friends.
* The golden toad is a legendary creature in ancient China, who is regarded as the dragon's brother. It is widely used in many decoration areas in China, since it is said it can bring the fortunes. Hence, the golden toad is a symbol of wealth and treasure in China.
Have a nice day,
Béla
