I can't think of a better way to ring in the summer than with the T&H West Indian Limes shave cream and ASB. Wonderful, refreshing scent and bountiful lather with little effort. The Hessenbuch was brilliant as always. I stlll wonder what kind of horn the scales are made of as they are really beautiful and unlike other horn scales I have seen. Two pass BBS and ready to face(suffer) the August like temps here in Ohio(mid 90's with high humidity). Have a great day.

Have to take the next couple weeks off. Old army scar needs to be worked on so no blades to the face. Just electric......
    Ugh.

    Shave of the Day 6/20/12

    Solingen Perlex 5/8
    New Forest 2201
    Tcheon Fung Sing ss
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Speick a/s
    Speick a/s balm
    Acqua di Selva Edc

After a great morning at Proformance Sports Training with fellow members of the "mature group," I went for the Solingen Perlex. I believe it is a Dovo that does not carry the imprint. Honed by Lynn Abrams, it always delivers a very close shave and today was no exception. The TFS soap provides a great medium for the razor to do it's job. The Speick products are a soothing follow-up and the Acqua di Selva is a great finish on what is already a hot day and will get hotter. And today will be better than yesterday.

    -Today's Shave-
Preparation: Rub a Dub, I cleaned my mug
    Pre-shave: Castle Forbes
    Soap: Madame Scodioli's Hierophant
    Post: Cold Water
    Balm: Skincado
Cologne/Perfume: Madame Scodioli's Step Right Up
Strop: DIY Paddle Strop @ 20 passes CroX and 40 passes Leather
    Razor: TI
    Brush: Semogue 830

Nice surprise when I got home today after running a few errands and grading some tests. I had two packages containing a few goodies to try out. First up, I finally ordered some paste to put on my strop. I think it immensely assisted with smoothness of the razor. I wish I had gotten some earlier. Next, I had some other delights to try after a warm shower. I know. It makes no sense given this weather. I should have made the water frigid and joined the Polar Bear Club. Anyway, the Castle Forbes Pre-shave smells like a skunks rear end. Did it help? Who knows, too many new variables today. While I was broiling in the shower I let my brush and the Hierophant soap get to know one another in a little salsa dish. Maybe the Scodioli does not like to rush things and wants a little dip in the hot tub first. In my experience, the lather of the soap was nice, fluffy and lightly scented. The smell was sweet and earthy. Never did it overwhelm me during the shave. Overall, it was a decent one pass shave, with a little bit of clean up with a Gillette Slim and 7 o'clock blades. Only problem is I have to grade more mid-terms and post grades.

I recieved my Dovo Silver Steel and Clauss USMC 6/8 from Lynn yesterday so today was my first chance to try one out. I had been practicing which inferior quality Pakistani forged blade for about a month, although recently while waiting for my Dovo and Clauss to arrive I have been shaving with DEs exclusively. So this isn't my first sraight shave, I just wanted to wait to post a SOTD until my skills improved!

I definitely need practice but today's shave turned out really well!
    Welcome to the SOTD.
