    Friday's Shave came Thursday evening.

After a late quit at the office, came home to discover a Beech tree on our property shed a giant limb across half the width of the public road serving our neighborhood. Hustled to cut it back to the berm before daylight ran out. Was soaked in my own juices by the heat + humidity and then drenched by a thunderstorm during the three minutes I scrambled to put the tractor and saw away. Straight to the shower I went, and, of course, how could I pass up a good shave??

After reading a recent entry by "Sixgun" Glen on cold water shaves, I decided to chill out myself:

    Lukewarm shower
Clauss 6/8 round, stropped 20/60 on the Illinois 127
Bigelow menthol, lathered cold with Conk badger
Lucky Tiger balm to keep that menthol zing stoked up
Just a smidge of Brut cologne

    BBS, and veeeery satisfying.

This Clauss is a perfect study in the "mystery" of razors' edges. Will only pass an HHT at the heel, but man, it can clean off the whiskers nice and close without irritation. Been faceturbating all evening. Hope I don't go blind.

    Friday

The end of a week. Bailey’s operation went well, he’s up and about an hour after coming out of surgery. He’s a very strong man. Thanks for the prayers and best wishes.

Spring is beginning to get out and about and I feel positive. The stillness of the water and the fog over Chain of Ponds Reservoir this morning was amazing.

This AM’s shave was great with the Klasy. Sometimes the thinness of the scales on this razor annoy me. It’s hard to strop. I love the scales though (to look at) and the blade itself is interesting. My son says is looks like it was made by a five year old. In a way; he’s right. I think I’m more in tune with Swedish design aesthetics though, this razor is simplicity. And it works. It’s great after a trip on the Shapton @ double the other razors’ quota for the session.

‘Sopa’ was Mike’s. Mike is very adept at making soap, I’d say, from this my first. Problem is (for Mike) that this is going to last me 10 years. I’ll get some of the other flavours, as it’s such a good soap. If you’re heading off to the Arctic circle next week on a scientific expedition for the next year, take one of these soaps, it’s all you’ll need.

Razor: Klas Törnblom | Soap: Mike’s | After Shave: Dominica Bay Rum, with a frivolous quantity of ‘Whisky’ by Evaflor, these two are made for each other; seriously…Like Corona and a lemon wedge…

My son said to me the other day, as I stood contemplatively in front of the mirror of the Dining Room side board, "Dad, why are you always rubbing your neck like that?" I said "So I can feel those hairs I didn't get this time and need to get next time".

    Default Friday Afternoon

Some may know about my affinity towards that Spanish maker Jose Montserrat Pou
I recently scored this less than shiny piece of shaving history, and decided to give it a go for todays shave.

I will sand and polish it up a bit, but I think I will keep her looking like she has had a full life.
Nothing all that special about it, but of all the EPBD's I have, this is the first Tridur in #14.

I matched this Especial Para Barbas Duras with an all Art of shaving Lemon products.
Not the best I've tried, but a far cry from the worst too

The Chubby in 2-band super can whip up a lather from skimmed milk if needed, so the lather today was a walk in the park for this monster of a brush!

Clean shaven, and ready for a hectic weekend.
Enjoy it Gents, Monday'll be here before we know it!

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....
